1984: The New York Mets release Mike Torrez.

1984 – New York Mets purchased Ed Glynn from the Cleveland Indians.

1987: Tom Seaver abandons his comeback attempt with the injury-riddled Mets and retires with a career record of 311-205, an ERA of 2.86, 3,640 strikeouts, and 61 shutouts.

1994: Mets reliever John Franco earns his 253rd career save to break Dave Righetti’s record for most saves by a lefthander.

2010: After a one-hour rain delay, the New York Mets score eight runs in the third inning, on their way to a 14-6 win over the Detroit Tigers. The Mets 1-4 hitters — Jose Reyes, Angel Pagan, David Wright and Ike Davis — have a combined 13 hits in the win.
