They say blondes have more fun. The blondies on the Mets decided they were going to sweep the Phillies, one way or another. Noah Syndergaard, Lucas Duda and Michael Cuddyer all conspired to bring that about.

The story today was Syndergaard. In the best outing of his brief major league career, he pitched into the eighth inning, surrendering six hits, striking out six and walking none. And oh yeah…went 3-for-3 at the plate, including his first major league home run — a 430 foot shot to dead centerfield. Syndergaard was never in any real trouble, throwing 101 pitches and as Bob Murphy used to say, “wearing the hitters on his watch chain.” He was able to induce ground ball after ground ball, all while being supported by two homers from Duda and one from Cuddyer to supplement his own power heroics.

For the second game in a row, a young Mets hurler took a shutout into the eighth inning. Syndergaard’s eighth was a great deal tidier than Jacob deGrom’s on Tuesday, but the result was the same: the second Mets sweep of Philadelphia already in this young season.

Friday is Harvey Night against the stumbling Miami Marlins. Here’s to continuing the pitching trend.

That was a great game! So glad I watched Thor, Duda, Cuddyer, and Murphy go wild over the Phils!

Well the Mets found their left handed bat off the bench! Oh, and he pitches pretty good also.
