Noah Syndergaard pitched a gem against the Cincinnati Reds, pitching eight innings, allowing one run, and striking out five. He was efficient with his pitches, and was still firing fastballs in the zone at 98 MPH in the eighth.

  • Dilson Herrera showed flashes of brilliance tonight, as he tripled against Johnny Cueto and made a nice catch to rob Billy Hamilton of a hit. The only frustrating moment came in the eighth when he bobbled a potential double play ball, but that has been the story of the Mets infield defense throughout the season.
  • Curtis Granderson hit a lead-off homer, drew a walk, and struck out once.
  • Ruben Tejada got hit by a pitch and had to be taken out of the game.
  • The Mets offense struggled tonight, as the team only had two hits against the Reds, but the hits were clutch, which enabled the Mets to pull off the win.
  • Cueto looked good tonight (as many pitchers do when facing the Mets of late) and pitched 6 innings, struck out six, while letting up two runs. The walks came back to hurt him, as he would walk in the go-ahead run, but he still had a good start. It will be interesting to see if a contending team will make a move for him, and what the package will be.

Syndergaard followed Jacob deGrom‘s gem with another great effort, and Matt Harvey will look to continue the win streak tomorrow against the Reds.

Nice to see The Dilson get some hits after that 0-fer streak he had going on. I know Flores will get preference over him when Murphy gets back but I think that’s a mistake.

Two wins in a row — does that count as a winning streak?

Syndergaard pitched like the potential Ace he is expected to become and Familia closed it out as he usually does.
The one player on the team having a power surge and providing the only offense that they have is not batting in the middle of the order. The Mets might not be able to hit but a Grandy home run mixed in with those Cueto walks may have relieved some of the pressure. When Sandy dictated to TC that there is going to be a strict six man rotation he should have also told him to bat Grandy in the middle of the order.
Wow, Sandy is ready to overpay! Does that mean is is now ready to trade a DFA pitcher for a backup third baseman?
Kirk hits his 6th homerun ! Does that mean Wally and his staff has had success on another reclamation project or…. Las Vegas is Fantasyland.
The new efficiency, two runs on two hits and a victory.

“Wow, Sandy is ready to overpay!”

      I’ll believe it when I see it…

So, that means more in the off season when there are people. Saying that now, with a non existent market is like me saying sure, I’ll buy a10M$ To fly to Mars. Unfortunately….

    2 hits: a homer & a triple. I’d call that “maximising resources.”

Cueto provided as much offense for the Mets as the whole, team did for itself!
