What a frustrating game for the Mets, as they had the game in their favor until the eighth inning, and ended up losing the game 4-3.

  • Today was a big game for Noah Syndergaard, as he had a chance to give the Mets a series victory against the Nationals, but struggled with his command, as he let up five walks in five innings. After today’s start, Syndergaard’s ERA is below 3.00.
  • Kirk Nieuwenhuis had a huge double off of Jordan Zimmerman, that plated two runs and gave the Mets an early lead.
  • Kevin Plawecki picked up RBI number 16 with a single in the fourth inning.
  • The game turned around for the Nationals when Bobby Parnell came in. With a 3-1 lead, Parnell walked Ian Desmond, which opened up the floodgates. Matt den Dekker would get on base with a single towards centerfield. Michael Taylor would come through for the Nationals, as he had a two-run single. Taylor would steal second, and score on an RBI single from Danny Espinosa.

Walks will come back and haunt you, especially with a lead, and the Mets were hurt quite a bit with the amount of base on balls they let up. The Mets will look to bounce back against Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers tomorrow, as Bartolo Colon will be starting for the Mets.

Kershaw against Colon, and Kershaw just struck out 14 his last start? Oh boy!!

      At least we have Tejada!

He’s 5-10 with 3 walks lifetime against him

        LOL, I’m so relieved.

Those last games for Kershaw and Greinke were against my Nats, and they owned us. I wish you all better luck with the umps against Greinke- they seem to want to extend his scoreless streak.

Honestly, the Mets have had amazing pitching, and the future is really bright. This might include the near future. Don’t give up after a painful loss. I have no desire to gloat, and I am amazed that we have benefitted from den Dekker more than you have from Blevins.

My best outcome would be the Nats winning the division and the Mets getting a wild card. After that, all bets are off, of course. Let’s see what Conforto can do, and for Pete’s sake, Wilpon, make a stinking trade.

Washington was the team that made the statement today.
It reminded me of 2008 . Impending doom.
The back end of the rotation should be Parnell – Mejia – Familia.
    Real tough loss.

Dump Parnell for Verrett. It’s a shame he was sent packing to make room for Parnell, who doesn’t belong in the major league at this time.

      • Patrick Albanesius

I think Verrett is on the DL at the moment, but I don’t know if he was demoted and then got hurt or not. Before today, Parnell has been pretty good considering what he came into the season looking like.

Meanwhile, Michael Fulmer is dominating for the Binghamton Mets. He’s the guy the Mets should promote to Flushing.

Yesterday Fulmer threw five scoreless in defeating the New Britski Rock Cats. I wasn’t there, but indications are that he looked pretty impressive; New Britain tried playing Small Ball, bunting to move a runner into scoring position — in the First Inning, with their #3 hitter bunting. That tells me either their manager is an idiot, or that Fulmer looked unhittable. (Or both, there’s that possibility.)

Its predictable. Look this team is not that good. And as the end of the season consumes us, we see how poorly they play when it gets to real delivery time. And now the Dodgers for 4. So the Mets roll out of the ASB with a 3-7 record, and drop to irrelevant…and finally SA and the Wilpon disaster are justified in doing nothing, the very thing they want to do.

It was fun while it lasted. And hey we had first place for a couple months. It felt great for a significant stretch of time.

The fans will get more and more bored with the lack of offense and the “small market” approach. How boring to watch Duda and the gang leaving men on base repeatedly! Moves should have been made weeks ago.

Steve, you know with the competitive balance picks announced today, I was sure a hardship case like the Mets would qualify, but surprisingly not.

I mean, the Pirates are buyers at the break!! How can they be a hardship case? Even the Twins are looking to acquire help. How can you expect the Mets to be competitive against financial juggernauts like that?

If you hadn’t noticed in Fangraphs today, an article on Conforto’s possible MLB production this year if he were indeed called up:
