All good things must come to an end. The seven-game win streak came to an end tonight as the Rays defeated the Mets 5-4.

  • Noah Syndergaard struggled tonight as he went four innings and gave up five runs. The first inning was brutal for the young pitcher, as four runs came across.
  • Curtis Granderson continues to have an impressive 2015 campaign as he hit two homers in the first two innings. It is always nice to see power from the top of the lineup, and Curtis has provided plenty of pop at the top.
  • Lucas Duda had two RBIs and hit a double to deep center field in the first inning.
  • Travis d’Arnaud and Juan Uribe struck out three times each, as the bottom of the lineup went ice cold.
  • Grady Sizemore had a great game for the Rays, as he hit a homer and made a solid catch in left field.

Bartolo Colon will face Chris Archer tomorrow, as the Mets look to win the series against the Rays.

As long as Syndergaard is able to put this game in his rearview mirror, the Mets will be fine. Otherwise it could spell trouble for the remainder of the season…

His home/ road splits are atrocious. In a playoff series he could never be given the ball on the road.

He’s been decent on the road, it was one very bad start in SD with the seven earned in four innings. Too, his last three, at LA, at St. Louis, and at Washington weren’t bad. Although the Washington game had 5 walks and one earned run in five innings, the others were ok. Minus that start in SD, his remaining road starts have an ERA of 2.97 and we need to take into consideration the “umpiring on the road effect” for a rookie pitcher.

Chris, while his overall numbers may not be as good as the Citifield numbers, he hasn’t been terrible.

Sorry, didn’t realize the site I got them from still had old numbers. That 2.97 was prior to yesterday. Excluding the SD game, his remaining road ERA is now 3.88.

“Syndergaard dropped to 0-5 with a 5.01 ERA on the road. He is 6-1 with a 1.57 ERA at Citi Field.”

He had no explanation for the disparity.

“I feel just as comfortable as I am when I’m at home,” Syndergaard said. “But, you know, with the home crowd there [at Citi Field], it’s a little bit easier to pitch. It’s just something I’m going to have to learn to deal with.”
