What else can you say about this game except, congratulations Max Scherzer. That was one of the most dominating pitching performances that has ever taken place in the history of baseball. It only took 109 pitches for him to complete the no-hitter, and in doing so struck out 17 batters. Were it not for a lazy Yunel Escobar throw, and an even worse Clint Robinson reaction, Scherzer would have easily had his first career perfect game. Instead, he has to settle for his second no-hitter this season. Kudos to him.

For you Mets fans, well, I have nothing good to tell you.

Scherzer was great……….but what a bitter pill to swallow.

Previous MLB record for strikeouts by two teams in a nine-inning game: 31. So there’s that…

Mets going into the playoffs with six straight losses? Talk about “we’re just happy to be there”.

Participation trophy. Look , I want to win in the playoffs as much as anyone, but the chance of that is pretty slender. It always was. And going into the post season with bats cold as liquid nitrogen makes the possibility of a sweep quite possible. I hope we manage to win a game, or at least look decent trying. National broadcasts are not our strong suit.
