Can you imagine the Wilpons doing this? As a fan I love the honesty and directness of this. Here’s a snippet:

“As you probably know, David recruited Matt Arnold from the Tampa Bay Rays as his Assistant GM. At this month’s Winter Meetings, he and Matt started to implement their strategy, which David has articulated thematically as acquiring, developing and retaining as much young talent as we can. We do not have a rigid timetable because we believe it is vital to build a proper foundation for sustained success.”

I agree. The BS they fed us just pissed us off more, then they went and squandered money and playing time on players no one else wanted like Marcum, Baxter, Young, Ankiel, etc., while we embraced and wanted to see the kids play.

Yes….I wanted toi see “Kids” play when they were in the mode of Baxter/Ankiel etc. Mostly, I wanted to see another 20-40 million dollars of actual major league players on each roster while the “KIds” were growing up at A+, AA, and AAA.

They have structured the debuts so that they are not all at once…and they continue to ask the young players to earn a spot and time….That’s important.

The truly gifted guys have moved pretty quickly—obviously, a couple of Pitchers and Conforto…… with almost universally strong transitions.

They’ve ignored some of the hype… young guys like Flores and Herrera and Plawecki are doing a “more usually successful” step up to MLB play.

Met’s Player Development has been very well ordered and successful over the past 3-5 years.
