He missed almost a whole year. It’s going to take at least a couple of months for him to get back into throwing, get his arm in full shape, get himself going. We’re going to use a sixth starter during the course of the year. So he has to get down there and get some innings in, start to get the velocity back, start to see hitters again, start to do the things that we were so high on him about before. When you miss a whole year, it takes a while to get back.

I would send him to Bingo and make an upwrd path more than 1 step. Sure, Its touch on pitchers in LV, but it would be good to get him a handful of starts at AA then promote him so that there is a positive outcome along the way.

Two reasons why I’d rather he be at LVG – the weather and the pitching coach. It’s a small thing, but I’d rather have the guy coming off shoulder problems pitch in warmer weather. And in Vegas he gets to work with Frank Viola, who we know is a pretty darn good coach.

I was very high on this kid 2 years ago. I hope he can get it sorted out.

By the way, Kristie Ackert is reporting this was a move to send a message that the team is displeased with Montero, and is using this move as a way to send a message. I don’t think he will ever see Queens again, and surprised if he’s a Met this whole season.

By the way, one issue is he seems not to take to coaching well.

      I’ll take that bet.

At this point we have the MLB pitching coach on the record talking about needing him compared to an off-the-record “team source” spreading doubts. Maybe Warthen drew the short straw and had to be the positive public face – I won’t completely dismiss that possibility. But until the point that someone with a real name and an actual idea about what it takes to be a successful pitcher in the majors says something like our “team source,” I’m going to believe he’s still in the team’s plans.

He’s done Brian. He’s not a major league pitcher.

unless he starts pitching inside more and stop thinking he is Tom Galvine he will not make it back to the majors

        Team source = Jeff Wilpon

        Been that way for years.
