On a miserable, wet night at the park, the Mets fell to the Nationals this evening 1-7 in what was possibly the most meh game to ever meh. The game time was a long three hours and 42 minutes.

  • Bartolo Colon was not sharp in this one, to say the least, and labored through most of his outing in which he couldn’t complete five innings. He walked five batters, which in itself is pretty bad. How about this, though: Colon only walked four the entire season heading into this one over eight games. His final line was 4.2 IP, 5 hits, 3 runs, 5 walks, and 4 strikeouts.
  • As a matter of fact, the entire pitching corps couldn’t stop walking Nationals hitters tonight. They walked 11 overall. Seems like that’s not only a lot in general, but very out of the norm, right? Right. Heading into the game the Mets as a staff had walked the fewest batters in the majors. They also hit two batters. The fact that the Nationals only had seven runs in this game was kind of amazing, really.
  • The Mets, again, had their chances to score but failed to execute. Their only run came on a homer (surprise), and the team struck out 11 times.
  • Daniel Murphy stuck it to his old team, going 1-4 but driving in two runs.
  • Juan Lagares made an amazing catch in the seventh inning, channelling Willie Mays. That’s about it for the excitement. Oh…Yoenis Cespedes also hit another home run (his 13th) so that was cool.

Davd Wright vs. LHP this season: .200 BA, 2 XBH, 30 AB, 15 K. His career BA vs LHP is over .335, highest in MLB I believe. Poor guy, a pale duplicate.

And yet I think this season boils down to Matt Harvey. Mets need him to be great again.

The Mets can’t seem to play well in bad, cold, inclement weather. Spring Training in 2017 will be in Syracuse, NY the 5th, worst weather city in 2015 according to weather.com.
Met pitchers followed the old Soupy Sales line, ” I took my wife to the game yesterday. I kissed her on the stikes and she kissed me ………”

      ST in Syracuse?
      Huh?..????

This team is built to Win with a Narrow Range:
    -Starting Pitching
    -Power and “enuff hitting”
    -Hammer Closer

They’re grading out in the “Low 2’s” on a 3 point scale per the above.

They may need some tweeks… they will continue to be flawed: situational Hitting/Speed/small ball…… so they need to do the things that are in reach much better.

    There’s time…There are Holes.
