The Mets got back on the winning track with a 3-2 victory over the Brewers in the first game of a weekend series Friday night.

  • Steven Matz made his first start in 11 days and showed very little rust. While he gave up a two-run homer in the first, he settled down to pitch seven innings and could have gone another if they weren’t being cautious. Matz earned his sixth straight win and he has decisions in all seven games he’s pitched this year.
  • Michael Conforto delivered the big blow, an opposite field two-run homer to put the Mets ahead.
  • Another good day for the bullpen, as Addison Reed and Jeurys Familia each threw a scoreless inning. Familia picked up his 14th save of the year.
  • Rene Rivera got the start and nailed a runner trying to steal second. He also drove in a run with a groundout. The Mets are 4-1 in games started by Rivera this year.

Now if we could get Harvey back on track.

After the rough stretch we get a reminder of our blessings.
How good is Steve Matz? He has won six in a row, no walks last night and no three ball counts. If he could make 1 2/3 innings disappear he would be second in ERA.
How good is Michael Conforto? He is producing better statistics than his fantastic inaugaral season. One could make a strong arguement that he could be the starting all star leftfielder.
How good is Addison Reed? He hasn’t given up a run in May!
How good is Jeurys Familia? He is second in saves and a sure bet all star.
This is a very good team that has some bright young stars.Lets Go Mets!
