  • Metsense

Getting the home field is in the Mets control.
What the Giants and Cards do doesn’t matter.
The Wild Card game is Wed. Oct 5th. Syndergaard is scheduled to pitch against the Phillies on Fri. Sept 30th and his next start is a perfect 5 days later for the WC game. That is a reason that he wasn’t moved up into Montero’s spot this Sunday. Bumgarner’s last scheduled start is probably Wed Sept 28th so that he could pitch against the Dodgers if need be that Sunday. Hard to say at this point the Giants rotation.

A Healthy Hammer Starter would be the best place to begin a One Gamer…Syndergaard would be the best bet right now.

The critical thing about an elimination game is the Decisions and lucky outcomes for a Manager—- need to have the gut to make fast decisions, most importantly in-game pitching decisions

  • Name

Bumgarner has a 3.87 ERA since the All star break and 5.30 ERA since he faced the Mets.

Obviously you should still fear him and anything can happen in 1 game, but he’s not in the midst of a monster run like in 2014 (2.12 ERA final 2 months) or Arrieta coming down the stretch last year.

At this point, Cueto might be a better choice
