-Zach Wheeler allowed seven earned runs over two innings of work. This is the second straight start where Wheeler has given up an excess of runs early in the game. His ERA has now ballooned to 5.29.

-Rafael Montero allowed a run in 3.2 innings of spot-long relief. This role for Montero may increase as the coming weeks progress, especially if starters get roughed up early like Wheeler did.

-Clayton Kershaw struck out ten Mets last night, but in the process gave up Gavin Cecchini’s first career home run. The Mets put up six runs against Kershaw, which was still not good enough for a win.

-Jose Reyes and Jay Bruce also both hit home runs for the Mets. Reyes hit two on the evening, a reflection of his hot play of late. In his last 10 games, Reyes is hitting .290.

Well….. the Bats are more tradeable than they were a month ago

The Mets scored six runs but still lost !
Wheeler did his JDG pre-pitcher of the week impression. Now we have to root to the same results. Seriously, I hope there is nothing physically wrong with him.
The bullpen is in a shambles with Salas having a higher ERA than Ramirez, Montero and the banished Robles. There isn’t anyone to take their place on the roster either.
It has been pretty ugly around here with the inconsistencies of the starting pitchers. That should be the focus of the evaluations when planning for 2018 to determine if they are healthy and good enough.

My how times have changed. I think deGrom and Noah are about the only front end guys we have, and maybe that is enough, but only if the team makes changes to reflect this is no longer pitching centric. I think Harvey is an inconsistent #5 starter for 2018. Gsellman and Lugo also back end guys. Wheeler is too, but we dont have a sense of where he is having been so long since competing.

That line up aces just never materialized…not even for a single turn. Generation K v. 2.0?

The 2018 season is already here, and looking around, Im not sure if this team is headed straight back to rebuild mode, languishing in Met purgatory, or going for it. My instincts say with all the FAs on the way out, players that really arent that good, and promoting from the minors means question marks are all over the place. One thing that makes me hopeful the team may try to be serious is the contract for Ces, which would be ashamed to burn on a rebuild (that is, if he can stay on the field). Maybe its time for a “reload”? In any event, it certainly is time for a roster shake up.

This season is over. The Nats own them. Waaay behind in the wild card. Just terrible. They probably should sell at the trade deadline..,Duda, Grandy, Walker, Harvey, Cabrera, Wheeler. Not sure what they can get with a few guys pending free agents. Probably not much but whatever is better than nothing. Maybe get back a starter to eat innings, a decent bull pen guy and a few prospects.

Let Rivera play 3b, Flores play 2b. Bring the kid SS up, bring Smith up. Get them some big league seasoning.

I’d try and keep Bruce. Let Conforto play center with Ces in left.

    Anybody hear anything about Wright?
