For loyal readers of Mets360, this blogger is known as the eternal optimist. The Internet is rife with white flag waiving Mets fans, but here’s one you’ll never account among them – not until the Mets are mathematically eliminated. If you’ve been a Mets fan long enough, you know two things – the bitter sting of heart-wrenching disappointment and that miracles can happen. There’s still a lot of baseball left to be played and unless you’d rather watch the Yankees or Wimbledon, today’s televised sports menu offers little else. Without further ado, here are 50 reasons why you need to keep watching and rooting for the Mets in 2017.

#46 is both interesting and a little depressing. Watch out Jon Niese, we’re coming for you.

  • John Fox

To combine #s 1 and 2, If I see Bartolo Colon back in orange and blue I might cry.

  • Chris F

    Well done Matt.

  • Charlie Hangley

Know what? I like it! Forget what I wrote yesterday. LGM!

I hope you are right about number 30, but I’m not so sure. There have already been obvious moments to release Ramirez. I think the decision is he is needed, as a constant reminder to us that 2017 is a hopeless mess.

  • IDRAFT

I’m hoping Wright comes back for a week, just to re-start the clock on the 75 DL days before Fred, Saul and Jeff collect insurance money. That seems like appropriate karma for how the Rosario situation has been handled.

    I still believe in Plawecki

    • Brian Joura

He’s hitting better in Vegas than he has previously. But our Vegas translation shows what he’s hit there this year being the equivalent of a .298 OBP and a .353 SLG with the Mets.

      I’m still not buying.

      • Chris F

me neither. too bad, I like KP.
