Stop me if you’ve heard this before but the Mets had a chance to complete a sweep on Sunday but came out on the wrong end of a 13-4 blowout against the Rockies. The Mets have not had a home sweep all season.

  • Steven Matz came out and for the second straight game he got kicked around by the other team. He became the first pitcher in Mets history to give up nine hits in one inning and he left the game with the Mets trailing by seven.
  • The Mets relievers did not provide much relief, outside of Erik Goeddel, who retired all six batters he faced. Fernando Salas, Chasen Bradford and Neil Ramirez each gave up two runs. Bradford took the lead with the worst ERA among pitchers with at least four games with a 7.50 mark. Neil Ramirez temporarily leapfrogged him but came out for a second inning and with a scoreless frame now has a 7.34 mark.
  • Lucas Duda and Asdrubal Cabrera homered in a losing effort for the Mets.li>

      Ah!! Makes the slaughter complete.

Was at the game yesterday and I couldn’t find a silver lining until later in the night. Now I know it was my last chance to see Chasen Bradford locally until his inevitable Ducks career.

    Go East young man!

I don’t understand why Neil Ramirez is still on our team taking up a roster spot.

He’s on the team because Gus gets mad every time TC uses his better pitchers to try to win a game.

Also: He’s the human white flag. He’s the reverse of Red Auerbach’s victory cigar. He’s the fat lady signing. If you see him, you are free to turn off the game.

      He’s a metaphor.

He’s a sign that Sandy Alderson stopped trying a long, long time ago. Sort of the opposite of turning over every rock. Not every rock! He was under the first one Sandy turned over. Good enough!

      He’s cheap!

He’s better than all the other guys we’ve got in Vegas?

He lets our two good pitchers, Blevins and Reed, get some rest.

Maybe he’s great in the clubhouse!

      Veteran leadership!

And on, and on. Take your pick.

        Jimmy P – thanks for the laugh. He’s the 2017 Eric O’Flaherty.
