In a rain shortened rubber game against last place division rival Philadelphia Phillies, the Mets won a shortened affair 6-3. Starter Rob Gsellman lasted all six innings, allowing three runs. These runs were allowed over five hits, four strikeouts and a walk. Two of his three runs were earned, the other curtesy of an Asdrubal Cabrera error. Gsellman, who is having an inconsistent season between New York and Las Vegas, improved his record to 6-6 on the season. My Gut Reaction is that Gsellman will be trying to prove his worth for next season in every game he is able to pitch in the remainder of the season.

The Mets opened the scoring yet again in the first. Cabrera drove in Jose Reyes who lead off with a single, and then Travis d’Arnaud hit an opposite field two run shot to build up the first inning run total to three. Cabrera, Juan Lagares, and Dom Smith each hit a double in the rain shortened affair. Cabrera had three hits on the evening, d’Arnaud had two, and Nori Aoki, and Gsellman each had a hit. The offense got the job done tonight.

The Mets won their 60th game of the season tonight, and sit a lowly 19 games under .500. They open up a series against the Cincinnati Reds, when Matt Harvey will throw the first pitch at 7:10.
