The New York Mets (54-54) dropped the rubber game of the series with the Atlanta Braves 8-3 at Turner Field Wednesday night. The loss drops the Mets 7 1/2 games behind the Braves in the National League East and 21-35 on the road this season.

Post Game Notes:

Mike Pelfrey (10-6, 4.16) continues hist disasterous second half (89 pitches/47 strikes). He pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing five runs and eight hits, including back-to-back home runs by Chipper Jones and Brian McCann in the third inning.

Carlos Beltran and David Wright, hitting third and fourth respectively, went 0-for-7. Beltran is batting .219 since his return after the All-Star break.
