Let’s cut to the chase – I’ve got something great to share with everyone.

I finally cut the cord because Sling TV offered ESPN channels that would allow me to watch some of the sports that I crave. And I saved a bunch of money by switching from cable. It was a win-win situation.

But I recently switched from Sling to Set TV and what I get from Set TV is miles and miles better than what I got from Sling. And if that wasn’t enough, it was less than half of what I was paying for Sling.

So, what do you get with Set TV?

You get over 500 channels. And unlike Sling, you get generic network channels. That may not sound like much but it allowed me to watch the Sunday Night Football game that is on NBC. Do you like football? Well, you get every single football game. I watched my Vikings in the early game, a little bit of the Panthers-Saints for the late game before switching to NFL Red Zone.

Not a big fan of football? Well, you get every NBA and NHL game, too. Friday night I was flipping around six different basketball games. There are over 100 channels devoted to sports, including college (SEC and PAC 12), motor sports and even WWE. It has all of the ESPN channels and the Fox ones, too. And if you’re interested, there are also channels for international sports.

And of course, it has the MLB Network and channels designated for all of the MLB games, too. Frustrated like me with blackouts with the mlb.tv package? Don’t have to worry about those anymore. I can’t wait.

It has all of the channels you expect to get with cable and has a bunch of movie channels, too.

This is a streaming service, like Netflix, so you can watch on your laptop or your TV. If you want to watch on your TV, you’ll also need a streaming device that will allow you to receive the product. Unfortunately, it’s not available with the Roku. I connect with Amazon’s Fire Stick, which plugs into the TV. It took me about 15 seconds to get the Fire Stick running and then a two-minute video to get Set TV to communicate with the Fire Stick. Once communication is established, you finalize things with a code that they email you. Waiting for the code was the longest part of the process. From opening up the Fire Stick that I ordered to watching TV took about 30 minutes, none of it hard.

You have several different payment options. You can pay $20 for a month of service, $55 for three months, $110 for six months or $200 for 12 months.

More sports, more movies, all of the cable channels you’re already used to – all for significantly fewer dollars than you’re already paying. If you’ve thought at all about cutting the cord and streaming things – this is what you’ve been waiting for! And if you haven’t thought about it, you should. Here’s the link again.

There are 8 different HBO channels.
      Three different Showtimes
      Five different STARZ
      Five different Cinemax
      Two different EPIX

I’m sure there are others I don’t recognize as premium

      Thanks for checking this out!

You should be able to sign up and get a 3-day free trial. If you have decent internet service, you’ll be thrilled with the outcome. Anyway, let me know if there’s anything I can do to help.

I want this too, as we could use an improvement in television expense. I gave the website a quick glance, but haven’t had the time to do a more thorough check.

I’ve just been thrilled with this service. If you’re willing to put up with some minor annoyances, it’s a fantastic deal.

If you need hand holding and great customer service, this may not work. But if you can follow a YouTube video and can live with a remote without a keypad (you can’t punch in the number of the channel you want to watch, you have to scroll through the menu to get to it) – I don’t see how anyone who loves sports or movies wouldn’t be thrilled with this.

Brian— do you have their set top box? I tried this using my pc/laptop: it’s a clumbsy interface, but for the benefit of having all of this “apparently free programing”, it would be nice to have.

BTW— I expect that you’ll get blackouts on MLBTV and NBA stuff with your own hometown teams

No, I watch it on my regular TV. I purchased an Amazon Fire Stick, which plugs into an HDMI port on the TV. I guess you could use that on your laptop, too. You have to get the Fire Stick and SET TV to communicate with each other. There’s a two-minute instructional video on YouTube – nothing hard. To complete the process they send you a code and you enter that. I had to wait awhile for the code – twenty minutes or so.

I live in NC and I’ve watched the Hornets and Panthers so there’s no blackout in the NBA or NFL. During the NFL games, I get a lot of promotions for “CTV” which is from Canada – so maybe they’re getting contact/signals from there.
