Friday catch all thread – 5/18/18

It’s been another rollercoaster ride for Mets fans this week – lopsided wins and losses, rain outs, injuries and Keith’s tweets. This weekend feels like a good time to get things turned around. Hopefully, the weather cooperates. Three games at home against the Diamondbacks with deGrom pitching the opener and Syndergaard closing it out. Let’s go Mets!

Just curious what happened to all the Met bloggers glee now that we see that Atlanta and Philadelphia are not going to be pushovers. I realistically don’t see the Mets competing for a WC. Maybe the Mets go 14-4 against the Marlins But is that going to be enough for the second WC?

Yeah, and remember when all the experts were ready to fire Gabe Kapler after three games? Now, the Phillies are nine games over .500 and have won eight of their last ten games.

That backpage for the daily snooze was one of the most sickening backpages I’ve seen. How can the front page be so right and the backpage be so wrong?

Couple minor league musings, Villanes Is having such a bizarre season as he’s allowed 16 runs in 22 innings yet has 37 strikeouts and only 3 walks.

Good to hear Dom had a big night and den Dekker is having a solid season after a slow start, does he come up if Lagares goes on the dl?

McNeill is destroying the ball, not striking out and has a higher slugging percentage than even Alonso has. Mcneill really should be in Vegas but gotta get Ty Kelly and Cody Asche at bats!

Ideally we get a ticked off deGrom looking to atone for the 45-pitch first inning.

D’Backs come in as bad here lately as the Mets. They’ve lost 7 of their last 8, with all but one of those games being at home.

Just saw Keith Law’s latest mock draft. Here’s his pick for the Mets:

    6. New York Mets: Jonathan India, 3B, Florida

In this scenario, I think they would be choosing between India and Swaggerty and perhaps one other player. If Bart or Bohm were to slip here, either would be the pick.

Wish he was DFAed but Lagares is done for the year!

Mets just DFAd Jose Lobaton – Hallelujah!

In 17 games with Lobaton catching, Mets pitchers had a 6.26 ERA and an .832 OPS against. They also gave up 25 HR in 128 IP. And when he was a hitter, Lobaton managed just a .489 OPS.

He posted a (-0.3) fWAR but he was worse than that. Not that I expect Nido to be leaps and bounds better but he can keep the backup catcher seat warm until Plawecki returns.

Come join me on the Devin Mesoraco bandwagon!
