Poll: Who is your favorite current Mets player?

When I was a kid my favorite was the backup catcher. Can’t list all of the choices here so if you pick “Other” respond with who it is in the comments. Never know – maybe 20 different people will pick Jacob Rhame. But I wouldn’t bet on it.

I think the world of deGrom. He is a guy that plays the game in a way that resonates with me. Plus he went off the charts autographing a ball for me a few years ago, and for that he’s #1!!

Special props to Conforto, McNeil, & Nimmo.

It was tough because I like Conforto, Nimmo, and McNeil so much but Wright was a longtime favorite as well. In the end I went with McNeil because his are the stats I look for each game.

I’ve been Jacob deGrom fan since the beginning. So many Mets fans said that he could not repeat his rookie season. I said and I felt that he was going to improve. What I like about him is his attitude. He doesn’t fluster and he is determined to win even though the team doesn’t offensively support him. And he doesn’t complain about it. His attitude and his determination is unique in today’s sports that’s why I strongly urge the Mets to extend his contract.

Brandon Nimmo—the incredible hustling on-base machine!

Not far behind: Jeff McNeil among the position players, and Jacob deGrom, Noah Syndergaard, and Zack Wheeler among the pitchers.

Everyone loves deGrom, how could you not? Next year, it will be Syndergaard.

And while yesterday when Nimmo walked, I heard Josh Lewin describe his running to first “Nimmo runs to first with the excitement of a Price Is Right contestant”, our best offensive player is Cespedes. How can he not be on this list? Yes, he’s injured, but he has played hurt and even hit a homerun without any of his base power.

However, my favorite player…… Mr. Clutch, Wilmer Flores!!!
(The next second baseman of the Nationals that will torment us.)

Thank you guys. That’s my MVP, and my act Young.

Chris, we have to hook up one of these days, we agree on too many ideals, except for one…
          🙁 Poor Gump.

Metsense, you are the glue of this site! We all love you.

Jeff and Fred Wilpon definitely think he is The Price is Right because he’s the minimum salary!

Gus, I almost made Flores an answer but I didn’t want to embarrass anyone with a vote total of one.

      And, capitals, really?

        LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
He deserves it! The most loyal Met! He’d play for free if the MLBPA let him! He would sign a blank contract and let the Coupons fill in the number! You should have put him on, I bet you would be surprised.

I will provide Wilmer with a second vote, on behalf of my younger daughter, who adores him. Sadly, we may have seen his final AB as a Met, given the shut down due to early onset arthritis in both knees at age 27. That and his cost in arb year 3 may create a non-tender.

My favorite Met is Wilmer Flores.

He’s been my favorite since his rookie season. Does whatever the team asks, great teammate and has a special knack for the clutch walk-off RBI. A guy you can’t help but root for. The quintessential “Met”.
