Step one for the Mets off-season to do list is finding a new President of Baseball Operations and/or General Manager to take charge of putting together a competitive team for 2019.  A lot of names have been mentioned. Who intrigues you the most?

A playoff game chatter will be available before the start of today’s first game.

I’d like to know who from the Milwaukee FO got Yelich for a bunch of nobodies. Signs Cain and gets Moustakas. Without those three the Brewers are the Mets.

Moose is high overrated. Yelich and Cain drive the bus for that team

How many Mets fit in that category?

His name is David Stearns and he used to work for the Mets.

Nobody all the rumored people are non analytic geezers which is exactly the type of gm that old fool Fred wants.

This guy must be a Mets fan, because he knows too much.

And this from MLBTR on the free agents of all teams on their 40 man rosters:

“*David Wright will not continue his playing career but will remain on the roster and be placed on the 60-day DL for his remaining two seasons.”

As Name said, he will stay on the roster until a settlement is negotiated with the insurance company like it was done with Prince Fielder.

Theo Epstein rebuilt the Red Sox and Cubs and ended their misery. Oh well, he is taken.

I had my eye on Ben Cherington, but he pulled himself out of the running.

Regarding the Brewers, they overpaid for Cain. Like Elssbury and Fowler, he’ll give them two good years and then become an injury prone, replacement level corner OF fornthe back half of his contract. I recall they gave up a pretty good haul for Yelich. What the Brewers have that really separates them from the Mets is a deep and strong bullpen.

Matt, they are making their whole contract back in just these playoffs. They are up 2-0, if they advance, it is now gravy. Without Cain, they’re in third place. That’s what smart GMs do when they feel their team is close. You don’t think t h a t is worth it?

Remember the Mets traded a possible future ace for two months of Cespedes and everyone thinks it was a great trade. Personally, I think the Mets overpaid and got real lucky, but hey, they really had no choice and it worked out, so we are all happy.

I thought I read somewhere that the Marlins did not get a haul for Yelich. Cain already paid his contract. So what’s your beef? Didn’t Cain lead the NL in WAR? I’m wondering if you would be making the same complaints had the Mets signed him. Speaking of back end of contracts. How about Bruce at 14 million for the next 2 seasons?
