On Thursday, Ichiro Suzuki announced he was transitioning to a front office role with the Mariners. And while he insisted he was not retiring until he started “using a cane,” what he accomplished over his 18-year MLB career is in the category of legendary. In addition to two batting titles, 10 All-Star selections and being named the AL MVP and Rookie of the Year in his first MLB season — he also notched 3,089 hits.

The 3,000-hit club is an exclusive place not many can say they’re a part of. MLB.com’s Daren Willman created a time lapse of each one of Ichiro’s hits during his MLB career — and it’s mesmerizing

This would be amazing to see, two ways… with the stacks of baseballs on the field…better yet, as a “Fireworks show”, with the balls fired out of some automated ball cannon, with a backing music track…maybe some scripted announcing
