Think you feel bad when Juan Lagares and his 3-18 bat comes to the plate? Then just imagine how Orioles fans feel when Chris Davis moves into the batter’s box. He’s 0-23 with 13 Ks here in 2019 and he was hitless in his last 21 ABs of the 2018 season. His 0-44 is two ABs away from the longest hitless streak by a position player, a record set by Eugenio Velez back in 2011.

We’ve focused on infielders when deciding who goes once Todd Frazier and Jed Lowrie return. But maybe Lagares should be under consideration, too.

Not at 9 million. Sorry but I really doubt it. Cheaper alternatives. How about bullpen relief with a demotion of Tim Peterson?

Peterson shouldn’t be on the roster and Avilan is a loogy and Mickey is the only one that doesn’t realize that. I would have kept Dowdy and reassess him in mid to late April. There really isn’t much high upside relievers in the high minors other than Villines and Ryan and the AAA teams bullpen stinks.

I have been posting since the first day of Spring that Broxton is a better all around player than Lagares. Broxton is also a 4th outfielder. Broxton coming off the bench can pinch run and steal a base. He has more power for those “Hail Mary ” home run situations and he is a plus glove for late inning defensive situations. The Mets can control him until 2023. Broxton could be a valuable 4th outfielder for this team. As for Lagares, the Mets would have to eat his salary in order to trade him and that probably won’t work either. Who would you rather see as a bench player, JD Davis or Lagares when Frazier and Lowrie get back. I think maybe JD for his power off the bench.

Lagares still provides great defense,if he hits 245 and some extra base pop, with fabulous defense as in the past he is valuable….by the way Mickey Callaway, had Lagares in centerfield the night he injured his toe hitting the fence last spring at Citi, trying to make an impossible catch in a driving rainstorm, a game that he should never had been in with a 339 batting ave,and a blowout loss…that was on Calloway stupid for leaving him in to get wasted crashing into the fence, nobody has ever brought this up,but I am ,now …thanks for nothing Callaway…..

Not sure I follow the logic. Why should Lagares have not been in there? If you want to take your better players out in a blowout loss that’s fine, but Lagares would not be one I would think of as one of the better players.

Lagares has never ever his for power though

I believe they’ve made a choice for 2 catchers to get a longer look at JD Davis. He may get squeezed, short term—but He’d do very well to wear several Gloves at AAA, if it comes to that. He’s in or approaching a very good opportunity to show his value. A decent player can find 350-550 ab’s and nice compensation as a Super Ute. Otherwise, He still has a chance to play Too Well To Assign!!!

Repeat after me: Kimbrel & Keuchel!

K1 & K2 are still available, and these chuckleheads haven’t jumped on them?

Just give them each a nice juicy sloppy one-year contract, and resume discussion after the Metsies win the WS!

On a different note, I like Cano, I really do-oh! But I just recently noticed that he was given uniform # 24, to which I ask (in implied upper-case letters)

have these people lost their freakin’ minds?

    Amen

Brian, tell Joe when a homerun is well gone to say, “that was gone upon contact”. I can’t think of anything better.
