Noah Syndergaard had a near flawless day on the mound and led the Mets to an easy 6-1 win over the Rockies as the Mets captured the series on Sunday.

Syndergaard clicked immediately with catcher Tomas Nido and seemingly threw the right pitches in the right locations all day long, making very quick work of the Rockies. Through seven innings he allowed just one hit and struck out seven. His pitch count was at just 98, but with a 6-0 lead, Mickey Callaway opted not to push him. Jeurys Familia threw a perfect 8th inning and looked the sharpest he has all season. Hector Santiago coughed up a run in the ninth but struck out Nolan Arenado to end the game.

On the offensive side of the ball, Todd Frazier got the Mets off to an early lead with a first inning three-run home run, his sixth of the season. He later added an RBI double to continue his hot hitting. Carlos Gomez and J.D Davis also drove in runs and, shockingly, the Mets stole three bases in the game. Scoring six runs was particularly impressive for the Mets with Wilson Ramos, Robinson Cano (back on the I.L.), Jeff McNeil and Dom Smith all out of the starting lineup.

The Mets now sit one game under .500 as they head to Yankee Stadium for a two-game set. Pitching matchups will be Jason Vargas vs. Masahiro Tanaka and Zack Wheeler vs. James Paxton. There’s no telling how the Mets will fare in this series, but one thing is for certain – win, lose or draw, we’ll get reminded by Yankee fans about their 27 rings.

When think of personal catchers I think Charlie O’Brian who was wanted by Gooden Maddox and randy Johnson. Maybe it’s Nidos calling.

It’s about time for Syndergaard to pitch like this. Great start.

In 14 games with Nido as his catcher, Syndergaard has a 1.82 ERA.

They have 27 Rings….. but they have to listen to John Sterling and Susan Waldman on the Radio

That was a nice agita free win with the only scary moment when Dom and Conforto got pretty close on a pop up. Noah was phenomenal as his change up, curve and fastball all were dominant pitches and he gave up all of one hit and it was one weak one that took a wear hop on the lip of the grass. It is funny how Noah had no pitch sequencing issues with Nido over Ramos, who has been good offensively, but dreadful defensively. I thought Murphy would kill the Mets this series but besides for Gagnon the pitching staff blew him away.

It was just one month ago that Frazier looked done, but he’s playing his best baseball since 2016 at least on the offensive end of things. The man takes the ugliest hacks ever but he gets to job done getting a big three run homer and a double late in the game and played his usual stellar defense.

Real good game for Conforto who had a solid week and had a nice opposite field hit and a double to right today that I think Rosario should have scored on.

Gomez had his second straight strong game and even threw in a bat flip on his run scoring single. Rosario also had a solid game even drawing a walk.

No idea why Familia(who has looked good his last two outings), was used in a 6-0 game over Font and no idea why Alonso was pulled after six innings.

All in all nice to take the second straight rubber game and hopefully Vargas shocks us again tomorrow night.

Gut Reaction: it was a dominating rubber game and it’s about time! Syndergaard was unhittable.
