The Mets scored early and often and Noah Syndergaard again gave the team seven innings, as the Mets won the rubber game of their series against the Pirates, 13-2, Sunday afternoon in Pittsburgh. The win moved the Mets to within one game of .500 at 55-56. The Mets haven’t been .500 since they were 27-27 back on May 28.

First inning homers by Michael Conforto and J.D. Davis gave the Mets a 3-0 lead. They put up a crooked number in five of the first seven innings as they raced out to a 13-0 lead.

Syndergaard gave up a run in the bottom of the seventh inning, the only run he’d allow. Tomas Nido was behind the plate and went 0-5 but the Mets didn’t need any offense from Syndergaard’s personal catcher. In nine games with Nido behind the plate, Syndergaard has a 2.40 ERA in 60 IP. He has a 4.69 ERA in 11 games with Wilson Ramos catching and an 8.10 ERA in two games with Travis d’Arnaud.

Robinson Cano had three hits, including two doubles, but left the game with a strained hamstring. He’ll have an MRI on Monday in New York.

For all the fans that wanted our cleanup hitter to “run hard”, now look what happened. Cano should take his time getting ready, strengthen his leg muscles with Jed Lowrie, and come back and see us around 2022.

Earlier this year, McNeil was chided for his lack of power. Well, after hitting two balls this weekend that left and almost left PNC Park and now he has 13 homers, those worries should go away.

I hope the lineup adjustment is Rosario into the top spot, and moving everyone down one, and not Frazier into the cleanup spot. Let keep the roll going.
