Michael Conforto belted two homers to help power the Mets to a 7-2 win over the Marlins and a sweep of the four-game series. The Mets have now won six in a row and 13 of their last 14 games.

Conforto cracked a two-run homer in the third inning, the 100th HR of his career. He added a solo shot in the seventh inning, the second homer of the inning, following Jeff McNeil’s two-run homer. Pete Alonso got the scoring underway with a two-run shot in the first. It was a great day for the HR offense.

Steven Matz evened his record at 7-7 thanks to a 6.2 IP, 2 ER outing. He’s now 5-0 at Citi Field this year.

The Mets were able to stay away from both Edwin Diaz and Seth Lugo in this game. After both were worked hard in the doubleheader on Monday, they’ll each have three days off before Friday’s game against the Nationals.

Earlier this year, the Nationals went on a hot streak of their own, where they were 31-12, beating up on the same teams that the Mets just got healthy against. Interestingly, that streak started after they were swept in a four-game series by the Mets. But since that hot streak, the Nats are 10-10.

The series is at home, where they Mets are 12 games over .500 this season. They have a day off before it starts and they enter playing their best ball of the season. And the Mets are 8-5 against the Nationals this year.

I can only imagine the atmosphere for Stroman’s citi debut on Friday night. It’s going to be insane. I hope he lives up to the “big game” pitcher reputation I’ve been hearing about. This could be quite the weekend. I fully expect DeGrom and Noah to dominate their games and the mets bats to stay hot.

Theoretically, with the starting staff holding up their end the Mets could win at least 60% of their remaining games and could win 66% if their bullpen can hold itself together. That would put them around 86-89 wins. What helps is that the majority of the games are at home where they have reversed early decade results and now win and hit at home. Stealing signs, LOL? Well if they are, what took them so long?!?!?!

As constituted, the lineup has their best hitters higher in the order. Frazier batting 7th is where he belongs and where the glove is able to stay in the lineup with the rally-killing bat out of the middle of the order.

The Mets have six hitters – if Ramos is playing – that should bat above Frazier. But he’s got a positive WPA, so I think calling him a rally-killing bat is a bit of hyperbole. He’s also got a positive “Clutch” score, which is more than most of his teammates can say.

Wow. I’m going to faint. Are you sure you checked the right Frazier? That’s T o d d.

What’re we doing tomorrow? The Mets have an off day.

One game at a time. Seems like a blink ago that we were 11 games back in the WC race and looking to dump players at the deadline. Wonder if Vargas would have served us better in the pen versus sending him away for virtually nothing. Can’t wait till Friday. Love playing meaningful baseball.

I agree it’s good to see them in race. Gotta believe

He is helping us quite a bit in Philly tonight.

Good Pitchers will find rest with Lineups and Bench Bats that include Hech, Juan, Alther, Nido, and Luis G. There’s not a Professional Hitter in the Bunch.

Juan or Alther need to go. Hech or Luis need to go.

Is The Dilson taking Fly Balls? He and Tejeda are better choices than both Luis and Hech.

What a fun run this has been. Every game matters and good teams need to capitalize on playing the bad teams, which they have done with style. Miami is almost 30 games under .500, Pittsburgh almost 20 games under, and the White Sox more than 10 under. Lets hope the learned lessons and momentum stay in place when the competition decidedly heats up. Aside from the 3 set with KC to give a little breather, August is playing competition baseball, but Sept is a bit softer. Sure will be interesting what the Mets (as of today +3 over .500) record is for the next month (27 games) playing Nats (+8), Phillies (+5), Braves (+20), Cubs (+10), Indians (+20), and KC (-23).

    My prediction is 14W 13L.

Gut Reaction : another dominating win highlighted by good pitching, explosive bats and error less defense.
This club is exciting and they believe in themselves.
Friday night it becomes real and I think that they will meet the challenge.
