Rajai Davis delivered a three-run, pinch-hit double in the eighth inning, as the Mets pulled even in their series against the Dodgers, eking out a 3-0 win Saturday night at Citi Field.

Two of the top NL Cy Young Award contenders engaged in a classic pitchers matchup and it wasn’t until both pitchers left the game that runs were scored.

Jacob deGrom pitched seven shutout inning, in which he allowed just three hits and did not walk a batter. Hyun-Jin Ryu was every bit as good, as he allowed two hits over his seven scoreless frames.

The winning rally consisted of two hit batters, a walk and Davis’ big hit, just the third hit of the night for the Mets.

Seth Lugo picked up the win, as he struck out all three batters he faced in the eighth inning. Justin Wilson retired all three batters he faced to earn his third save of the season.

I like to pick on Managers after wins.

Why not pinch run for Todd when he was on First Base?…. ok…maybe they only pinch ran because he reported swelling and discomfort, so they knew he wouldn’t go back out?

Way to go Rajai!!!….but how the heck do you leave Conforto on the bench there????

    Mickey’s a Genius?

Davis was the right choice. Conforto has difficulty facing lefties and Urias is a good one. He didn’t pinch hit Conforto for Lagares when there was a RHP on the mound either so he wasn’t doing it here.
