Tomorrow was supposed to be Opening Day.

We have been thrown an Uncle Charlie for which we were unprepared. Life’s like that sometimes. But this time, life has followed up the wicked curve with a 100 mph fastball aimed straight at our head. Now we get to see what we’re really made of on the inside. Pick yourself up, do your best Rusty Staub and take a breath so big that it flaps your lips when you let it out, get back in the box and do what needs to be done.

Don’t let the bastards win.

Agreed. Just don’t be lip flapping within 6 feet of anyone. 🙂

I like how you made it so the readers could make the bastards anyone they wanted.

To me the bastards will always be the Braves.

Used to hate the Pirates many years ago but you are on target with the scum sucking Braves. They move into our division and always win it. Enough said.

we can’t blame the Wilpons or the Dolans. First time I’ve been able to say that about any devastating sports news in longer than I can remember.

…but are you really really sure Matt?

I said multiple times in earlier posts that Syndergaards performance was a key factor in the Mets success this year. This is a painful one. He has such great power and stuff. He is really starting to feel like Mark Prior.

My Mets themed question is aimed at the 2020 Mets. How do you manage when it isn’t a marathon anymore but rather a sprint? While many managers have experience managing a marathon, how many can mange a sprint, and dies that help Rojas catch up to their experience because no one will ever have managed a season like this. How do you attack a 100 game season that starts in June? Any ideas?

Familia to a Lugo to Diaz – put it in the book.

As for Scott Boras’ idea of playing 162 games by playing through late December and playing in neutral site games for playoffs, this is one moronic idea. There’s big problems there even though we understand his clients need to get their numbers so he can get his number$.
    1. Neutral site fans won’t care as much. Attendance won’t be what a loyal fan base would give.
    2. Does MLB want to take Sundays off or is he planning on seeing just how much the NFL will crush MLB? The networks won’t give MLB the limelight.
    3. Does he realize that these athletes aren’t playing a game of constant movement, like soccer or football, but a game of constant standing around? Did he check the temperatures in November and December? How many hamstrings does he want ripped?
    4. If games are played through Christmas, free agency will start in January. How can Boras give his clients the best service if free agency is contracted into 40 days?

Where did he come up with this?

Espn is reporting that Thor will need TJ surgery and likely out until mid 2021
