Through the life of the site, there’s probably been hundreds of posts around baseball cards. Shoot, the image for yesterday’s article was a card. I miss Doug Parker’s weekly COTW column. Periodically I try to get him to do it again but he always declines in the politest way possible.

Anyway, with all the bad stuff that’s going on currently, my mind began to think of simpler times. And of course, cards leapt to mind. So, let’s take a moment to enjoy some classic 1970s Mets cards of John Milner:

I loved the “Hammer”. His best year was 23 HR and 72 RBI’s. (Not much of a hammer) But, that is ok. Still loved the guy.

I miss card of the week and name that Met. I forgot who it was but got it right away. Little things in life.

The Hammer, such a cool dude. My favorite of all time is 1974!

RIP John…loved the Hammer as well…didn’t realize until this story that it took him like 5 years to find a different card pose. Lol.

And the crazy thing is that it wasn’t Topps recycling the same photo. With the backdrops, the type of sleeve under his jersey and batting gloves – those are all different pictures.

Not only that, but he is becoming a little more upright in his stance as the years progressed.

Milner was a great Met. In my top 20.

In light of the news that Chris Archer will have TOS surgery, what trade is worse:

-The Archer grade for the Pirates?
-The Cano trade does the Mets?

I think the jury is out because we have to see what Diaz and Cano do this year. We also have to see what kind of a player Kelenic turns out to be, but so far, the Archer trade seems to be much worse.

      TOS?

Here’s a highlight within a compilation of highlights of someone who seems to have achieved cult icon status – there’s seems to be a tongue-in-cheek movement to elect him to The HOF.
And I think that one particular Name around here would find it most noteworthy because of the corpulence displayed
