They say that politics make strange bedfellows but hearing the latest rumor on a proposed sale of the Mets by the Wilpon family makes me think sports is right up there in that department. As a Knicks and (long ago) Rangers fan, the idea of the owner of the 76ers and the Devils becoming the new owner of the Mets is a little unsettling. But MetsBlog reported a few days ago that Josh Harris is interested in adding the Mets to his sports empire. The things you can afford when you’re a billionaire. Still, if we can get an NBA owner involved, let’s get Mark Cuban, instead.

Anybody but the Wilpons (except maybe Dykstra).

I just want an owner that cares about the team and an owner has a burning desire to invest in the team to win.

Mets take Pete Crow-Armstrong with their first-round pick. A lefty-hitting CF, excellent defense, power a question. Has scholarship to Vandy but expected to sign. Here’s a prospect video breakdown. Not your typical highlights video.

      Kellenic without the power?

I was hoping for a catcher.

Matt, when Kelenic got drafted, he was a string bean too. I remember seeing a picture of him at Citifield wearing a Mets jersey and it looked like a sack on him. That is why I wondered how he bulked up so quickly, basically in one off season.

To his credit, he did hit 6 HR’s in the Mets system in 251 PA’s but the next season in 500 PA’s he hit 23; double the PA’s, quadruple the HR’s. Are we ever going to let this kid go? I really can’t.

I like the defense obviously, but I don’t understand how you pass on Garrett Mitchell, supposedly a better offensive player but also three years more developed as a college junior. We will see in a few years.

Mitchell is a Type 1 diabetes individual. Does that play a role?

In something that I’ve never considered, Brodie spoke about how PCA has been in the national spotlight since 12 years old, having been on Team USA and growing up in Southern California in front of lots of people and lots of buzz. I never thought of that, but it is important to take players that you think can handle NYC.

I’d love to see some good pitching prospects added tomorrow.

I am ok with this pick. I can’t wait for our next pick tonight. The fun starts at 5PM EST.
