On this date in 2015, Jacob deGrom had one of his signature games, as he hurled eight shutout innings, allowed just three baserunners and notched 10 strikeouts. But it’s not the best game ever by a pitcher with Mets ties on July 8. Rather that goes to former first-round pick Billy Traber. The Mets took Traber with the 16th pick in the 2000 Draft. However, Traber never pitched for the Mets, as they traded him to the Indians in the Roberto Alomar deal in December of 2001. Traber threw a one-hit shutout with no walks and five whiffs on this date in 2003. deGrom’s outing earned him a Game Score of 87 but Traber edged him out with a 90. Still, the Mets are glad to have kept deGrom and have dealt Traber, who lasted just 215 innings in the majors.

Best news I’ve heard! Now if they get rid of his buddy Bashlor, too

A number one pick for an Over the hill second baseman.
    Some things never change.

It is going to he interesting to see what happens when teams quickly fall out of contention. Will they bring up heralded young players to get some experience and reps?

It is interesting. It will be late July and all teams will be tied for first. 60 games to go. It will be am interesting season. Hopefully we will get through it.
