Yankee Stadium is a heck of a place to begin the second half of this woeful season. With our three best pitchers taking the mound and our best hitter coming back to DH, we should be hopeful, but what for? At least it will be worth watching.
Whether you chalk it up to coming back from a serious shoulder injury or not having protection in the lineup with Yoenis Cespedes, Jay Bruce and Todd Frazier injured, there's no denying that Michael Conforto's performance through the first three and a half months of the season has been a major disappointment. The 25-year-old outfielder [...]
Matt Harvey, Hansel Robles and Erik Goeddel are all pitching well since leaving the Mets. Can this just be chalked up to a needed change of scenery or is there something more to this?
Amed Rosario hit two triples! Wilmer Flores and Jose Reyes each got on base twice! PJ Conlon and Tyler Bashlor combined to allow just one run over 4.1 relief innings! The Mets made no errors and even turned a few highlight plays in the field! Dom Smith got a hit! But, um, yeah, we lost [...]
"It's the same old song. But with a different meaning since you've been gone." That Four Tops song used to play on the car radio with my parents singing along in the front seat of our brown Buick. My brother and I sat in the back, dejected, on our way back from another Mets loss [...]
Like Matt Harvey, Devin Mesoraco needed a change of scenery. Both players were first round picks and All Star selections who'd endured a rough couple of seasons due to injuries. The in-season trade made sense for both teams, perhaps even more so in hindsight. Mesoraco was the Cincinnati Reds' 15th pick of the first round [...]
Why are you still watching this team? a) It's high drama. I can't wait to see what happens next. b) It's like a car accident. I can't look away. c) I'm a glutton for punishment. d) I still have faith that we'll turn this thing around. e) There's no football, basketball or Game of Thrones [...]
Yeah, yeah, we lost again. This time to the last place team. The one who traded away all their best players in the off-season. The one we'll be trading standing places with by Sunday if we don't right this sinking ship. Ace and constant topic of Yankee fan speculation (no you can't have him, especially [...]
Amid the seemingly endless string of bad news this season for Mets fans is one glimmer of hope - a potential comeback by our captain, David Wright. The face of the Mets franchise hasn't played in a Major League game since 2016. Since being diagnosed with spinal stenosis back in early 2015, Wright has undergone [...]
Our bullpen has been a disaster of late. Who's to blame? Management for bringing back Jerry Blevins and signing Anthony Swarzak instead of other available free agents? Coaching for overusing the bullpen early in the season with the "two times through the lineup" strategy? The starters for not going further into games? The relievers themselves [...]
In late April and early May we lost games because of some bad starting pitching. For a few weeks in May we lost games because of a leaky bullpen. Then in late May into June our bats went silent. In a rare game tonight where we scored enough runs to win and pitched well enough [...]
In what may seem like a recap of the previous game, the Mets kept the game close until surrendering a grand slam in the eighth inning that put the game far out of reach. And, once again, the Mets hitters stranded base runners throughout the night, failing to deliver clutch hits. Jacob deGrom was less [...]
