First, for your viewing pleasure:

Now that that’s out of the way, let me use my not-yet-received film degree to do some hard-hitting analysis.

Let’s start at the beginning, shall we?

The video opens on a smiling David Wright greeting all Mets fans with a boyish “Hi!”  Wright is green screened in front of Citi Field, where it is snowing.  Apparently this video was shot on Sunday, even though it was released last Thursday, but I digress.

As the opening measures of Johnny Mathis’ holiday classic, “Sleigh Ride” play, we are whisked through images of Citi Field in the winter time.  There’s snow on the apple, and snow falls in front of the pennants.

Mr. and Mrs. Met are seen enjoying a ride in what else – an orange sleigh.

Then things get weird.

We briefly hear a slightly off-pitch baritone voice which we soon find out belongs to none other than Matt Harvey, who sings the opening line to the song.  His backdrop is a snow-covered cabin decked out in Mets style: an orange version of the Mets script and a creepy Mr. Met, doing his best Michelin Man impression.

Then we find out that Travis d’Arnaud is functionally tone-deaf, but all I can focus on is the sinister, evil-looking Mr. Met snowman.  He looks like he’s up to no good.

Then Justin Turner and Lucas Duda come along.  And it is beautiful.

The contrast between Duda’s obvious wanting nothing to do with this video and Turner’s Buddy the Elf-like holiday cheer, arguably makes this the best scene in the video.  Turner isn’t a half bad singer/dancer, too.

A quick cut back to Mr. and Mrs. Met in their sleigh doing the next line Wile E. Coyote style using signs, makes way for Dillon Gee doing…well, I don’t know what he was doing.

The only explanation I could think of is he didn’t know the camera was rolling, realized it quickly and started singing.

The video closes out with a silent cameo from the Duda-Turner Overdrive, Jon Niese, and David Wright, who has moved locations and is now in front of a cartoon incarnation of the home run apple.

Zack Wheeler finally comes in at the end and puts a merciful end to the song, wishing all happy holidays from the Mets.  We are then treated to four more seconds of that creepy Mr. Met snowman.

Seriously, that’s a scary face.

At least it’s not as bad as this:

Well… at least we now know that if Lucas Duda and Justin Turner’s carriers don’t turn out well, they can still make a living as an Academe Award winning duet!!!

Says everything you need to know about this team. Can’t even say happy holidays with aplomb. The only thing missing was the sillouhette of the dude behind the green screen holding them against their better wishes!

Now I know why Peralta signed with the Cardinals for less, you couldn’t pay him enough to do that.

The Mets are using it a video to lure free agents. Wilpons are thinking hehe no one will come now we can pocket all the money.

Maybe for their next video they can do a Mr. Grinch video with Fred Wilpon playing lead character?
