Mystery Met 8

The calendar is about to turn and rosters expand, which means that the cup-of-coffee players are warming up their percolators and getting ready to log their minimal major-league at bats/innings.

In the spirit of September and its roll call of short timers, the first person to identify the mystery player pictured here will win a 2000 Bowman gold-parallel rookie card of Eric Cammack numbered 61/99.

    Les Rohr pitched a total of 24.1 innings for the Mets between 1967 and 1969, going 2-3 with a 3.70 ERA. His best game in the bigs came on September 30, 1967, when he threw seven shutout innings against the Dodgers en route to a 5-0 win.

    But my favorite Les Rohr fact is that he is one of only two players in the history of baseball with the surname “Rohr.” The other player is Billy Rohr (no apparent relation), who likewise debuted in 1967. What are the odds…
