I would entertain a Bay-Soriano deal but I wouldn’t take on any salary to do it.

Surprised to see Cedeno start. Do you think they are showcasing him for a trade? Quint can do his job and Cedeno would bring back something.

I don’t think the Mets can afford to trade middle infielders, they need the depth
I’d rather see the mets trade their surplus outfielders
Quint is a poor man’s Cedeno, and Turner, although I like him, really doesn’t have a role. Murphy also could go especially with the way the FO loves Valdespin.

How was Duda’s HR?
Well, Valdespin can’t play SS, and Turner can’t play for an extended time there anyways so if you trade Cedeno and Tejada and Quint both get hurt they’re screwed because i don’t think they have another SS at AAA

Also, I wouldn’t worry about trading Cedeno (or Quintanilla). We’ve already had the rash of SS injuries and odds are extremely against the same type of thing happening again.

but why deal from a position of relatively scarcity(can anyone enlighten me as to who they have left at AAA?), when you have a surplus of outfielders?
The OF has very little value unless you trade Hairston because 2 AL teams have inquired about him

Middle infielders – off the top of my head – Tejada, Murphy, Cedeno, Quint, Turner, Valdespin, Havens. That doesn’t seem to be a huge scarcity.
The guy at AA has a ML glove also

But what are the odds that your two primary guys both go down with LT injuries at the same time, given it’s already happened?
I really don’t see Torres as a better CF for a team lacking one wheras Cedeno can field and is hitting better.

You want to prepare for likely scenarios but I just don’t see something that has less than 5% of a chance of happening trumps trading one of those guys for much-needed bullpen help, if that type of trade is out there.

Also, Turner and Valdespin can fake it at SS for brief stretches.
Dee Gordon is out six weeks and the guy in SF (even though he came in 2nd place in allstar voting) could be replaced

The average NL ERA this year is 3.98 and Gee has a 4.34 ERA
I think that Gee has a low to mid 3 ERA in his past 8-10 starts though, he had a really bad 1st month if i remember correctly
