It’s pretty sad the braintrust in Queens is considering Flores at shortstop.
I’m happy for the kid since he’ll have more opportunities to stick with the big league club, and he wasn’t bad at second base last year. But there’s a reason he hasn’t played short since 2011, and it’s not because they have a surplus of talent.
Until we see how much his lateral movement and first step have improved it’s too early to say one way or other if shortstop is possible. I believe that is all that Sandy Alderson said. Positive reports out of Michigan. I do think it is sad that Sandy said this is first time that Wilmer had a real offseason to focus on conditioning but I guess Wilmer didn’t get memo because he did play in winter ball for a few weeks this offseason.
Alderson also thought Duda was an outfielder. Oh MaGoo you done it again!
Alderson’s shortstop is waiting for a phone call in Scott Boras office.
Call me crazy, but I don’t think Alderson hasn the keenest eye for baseball talent. Or for not saying dumb things.
