He added, “Ruben’s played very, very well lately — very, very well. And it might be the fact that he’s fresh.”
Oh, Terry, you prince of irony!
The Mets have played 59 games. Curtis Granderson has played 57, David Wright has played 59 and Daniel Murphy has played every game since he missed the first two of the year while off on paternity leave.

Terry Collins is an imbecile totally devoid of common sense. The fact is that Tejada, Chris Young and Erik Young have proven to be bench players but if they get a hit, they are rising stars in Collins eyes.
Forgotten is the fact that Duda, Davis, Tejada were all unwanted players during the winter because of their lack of production. But here we have Terry Collins, the Imbecile, trying to sell us the same garbage for the 3rd straight year.
Give Collins an interview and he will contradict himself from what he said the day before and put his foot in his mouth time and time again only to repeat the process the following day.
Platoons rarely work and should only be employed once you find out what each player is capable of doing while playing everyday. Collins has failed miserably at doing this with Flores.
Flores comes up while batting over 300 in Vegas and sits in favor of Tejada batting under 200. Campbell hits 350 and sits in favor of Chris Young and his under 200 average. Montero gets 3/4 stars and gets replaced by Dice K who has no future with the Mets.
This organization owners and GM’s Trifecta have no clue.
Want to give a shock to the system? fire Collins, dfa Chris Young. Give the team to Backman and play dd, Lagares, Granderson, Flores everyday.
I wish TC would keep himself fresh by giving himself days off. Heck, i think he’s earned a lifetime vacation and doesn’t need to report to work anymore!
Here’s another stupid comment by TC regarding Disucky:
“The base on balls and falling behind in the count is stuff that he has not been doing.
Umm, hello? have you been paying attention? Disucky entered the game with a 6.1 BB/9 and in the 17 appearances for the Mets, had not walked a guy in just 4 of them.
Words fail me.
I see a soon to be 23 yoa rookie who was called up for the sole purpose of adding offense to the line up and not given a chance. He sits on the bench when he should be playing every day in the majors or, at the least, AAA. Tejada, given another life, has a .822 OPS in his last 20 games. Amazing what 2 dingers do for his slugging %. Should we expect this to continue the next 58 AB’s ? I think not.
I see a AAA utility player with an .821OPS (granted not as good as Tejada’s OPS) can’t find a start amongst an overworked Murphy and Wright, and an outfield with one starter disabled, the 4th OF disabled and the two free agent aquistions performing below standard. TC doesn’t play rookies. So why is Alderson stock piling a farm system that his manager is going to refuse to play? (It sure doesn’t remind me of the Beane/Howe talks in Moneyball).
I see a disconnect between GM and manager.
After his home run last night, Terry Collins said he will get Brown “a game a week” in the line up.
Chris Young continues to play.
Can anyone explain?
Is he just holding the Alderson line, against his will, or is this his “baseball smarts”?
