“This is what I’ve wanted since I was 4-years-old,” Burdick said. “My dream goal was get drafted in high school, start my pro career and then eventually make my ultimate goal, which is the major leagues. I never saw DI college in my future.
“If I had to choose a college it was just part of the process. It was in the way. I wanted to go to Mississippi State since eighth grade and I wanted to play pro ball since I was 4-years-old. And the opportunity came to me.”
Mets 40th-round (read: last) pick Dale Burdick, on signing an over-slot deal for $150,000 rather than going to college.

Burdick is a middle infielder and will start off in the Gulf Coast League.
