“Syndergaard is the guy that made the biggest strides last season,” Viola said. “The best thing that happened to him was Sandy (Alderson) deciding not to bring him up in September (of 2014) after he struggled in Vegas.
“It made him realize he had to work that much harder. When he’d get in trouble that season, his answer was to try and throw the ball harder, and that doesn’t work. He had to learn how to use his off-speed stuff and really pitch, and he did that.
“As much as he took off last year, I think he’ll be even better this season.”

Syndergaard has the chance to be the best pitcher in that rotation, this year.
My gut feeling is that Noah will be the best pitcher on the 2016
staff and have the best career of the staff. He has youth, an incredible fast ball, and is still developing. I like his attitude and has a chip on his shoulder.
I play a version of Out of the Park baseball on my phone. It’s simple and fun GM game. I’m currently in 2041. Noah Syndergaard played from 2014 to 2033. He had a 279-192 record, 3.37 career ERA, 3341 K, 861 BB, 4279.2 IP, .237 average against, 3.88 K/BB, won 2 Cy Youngs, had 5 All-Star selections, won 5 World Series and went to the Hall of Fame.
It’s meaningless, but cool to hope it might turn out that way.
