As we all know, the Mets have quite a few players returning from extended stays on the disabled list. For this experiment, we’re not even going to count David Wright, who not very many of us are counting on for more than half the season. So which player who is penciled in for a meaningful role, do you have the most concerns?

Which player returning from injury are you most worried about in 2017?

    4 Starting Pitchers..Chilling..you can’t make the playoffs with 4 starters grounded!!!…oh…Wait…….

While I voted for Harvey, like most did, my real fear is Noah, who is not on the list. Were he to struggle with DL issues, this team is clearly in trouble.

But,but everyone wants to sign the pitchers to extensions years before they’re eligible to be FAs.

Oooooh, bite your tongue! Although I get where you’re coming from, my choice was Zack Wheeler. Will he ever come back???

In terms of their ability to come back? Or their overall importance to the team?

I’d be most concerned about Wheeler’s ability to return successfully given the time missed and various setbacks. But given the rotation is fairly deep and he’s missed so much time that it’s hard to really expect much out of him, I think getting anything out of him in 2017 is more of a bonus than something to rely on.

Harvey and deGrom are likely the most important players on that list – but I’m not all that worried about them returning successfully. So I might go with Duda. Back injuries can be problematic and he didn’t really play enough last year to show he’s recovered. And the team could really use his bat given the offensive struggles of the team and lack of 1b options right now.

Considering how Duda’s injury forced the team to play schlubs like Loney, Campbell, Kelly Johnson, and Flores at 1B I am most concerned that Big Luke can come back and provide the team 500 powerful ABs.

Fascinating. I never imagined that response! That’s a lot to unpack Larry.

Wheeler because he has not pitched in two years. He already had an elevated
bb/9 and the two year absence may only elevate it furthur. It may take a season just to get him back to where he was and the Mets may have a better option in Gsellman instead of a floundering Wheeler. Harvey is also a huge concern but if he loses feeling in his finger again it will be a clear case of shutting him down for more surgey. Then he would be my poll choice in the 2018 edition of “return player most worried about”.
This is a dominating team when their pitchers are healthy but it is troublesome that 80% of the projected rotation did not finish 2016. I won’t breath easy until opening day when I hope the 80% represents the healthy ones.

    Zack Wheeler.

I love his raw talent, but it is a work in progress that’s been stalled for two years. Could be a bumpy ride.

If healthy, if the stuff is still there, I hope the Mets stay with him.

Matt Harvey was one a staggering talent. I don’t know anymore.

I kind of don’t think Matz will ever really be healthy for an extended time. Would be nice to get a full season out of him.

I still see disaster when I look at David Wright.

This Mets team has a lot to overcome. I’d like to see them sign Cespedes & Fowler (a top of the order guy), move Bruce & Granderson. Pen needs another high-quality arm. I don’t think the plan should be to win games 3-1.
