The Dodgers continued their mastery over the Mets with a 6-0 win Friday night. Los Angeles has won five straight over the Mets this season and their last seven games against New York.
This season the Dodgers are clubbing the Mets into submission and the move to New York did not change things. The visitors hit three homers in this game and have 18 against the Mets this season.
The Mets offense was shut out for just the fourth time this season. Jacob deGrom needed 99 pitches to complete five innings. And nemesis Chase Utley hit an upper deck homer against Josh Smoker, who should have been DFAd before Josh Edgin.
It’s hard to imagine a more deflating loss. The best thing that can be said is no one got hurt in the game. At least I think that’s the case…
I liked Josh Edgin. I feel like he was just starting to come back into his own since Tommy John sergery.
Citi Field was packed to capacity. Too bad the Mets didn’t show up. At least the fans left with deGrom jerseys and a chance to see their favorite pitcher steal a base. Oh, and a chance to chant, “Utley sucks!”
The jerseys are cool! We also got to see Rosario steal a base!
Assuming a normal August, I’d like to see Rosario leadoff in September. Just get a feel for it, see how that looks.
I’m with Keith: Conforto is an ideal #3 hitter, and it would be nice to see him bat more often with men on base.
It may be that Rosario will be a poor table-setter for a couple of years, with an unacceptable OBP, but I’d still like to see how it goes and let him get that experience in September.
