With the win, the Wolfpack improves to 15-7 (5-4 ACC), while the Tar Heels fall to 16-6 (5-4 ACC). The victory also marks the first time since 1987 that NC State has recorded back-to-back conference road wins, and it makes the Wolfpack 3-0 against Duke, Wake Forest, and UNC-CH for the first time since the 1974-75 season.
The win is NC State’s third win over a top-10 ranked opponent this season.

It was a little less than a year ago when State fired its basketball coach and everyone in the media was up in arms about how could they do such a thing. Meanwhile, with a roster far less talented than what was here a year ago, new coach Kevin Keatts has surpassed State’s conference win total from 2016-17 halfway through the season.
Will those in the media who were most vocal about what a mistake NCSU was making back then admit that they were wrong? I’m not going to hold my breath.
Coaching makes a difference. And while it’s apples and oranges to compare college basketball to MLB, it should be great fun to have a new manager in the Mets dugout in 2018.
