Jeff McNeil was hitting like a madman in the minors and his long overdue promotion to the struggling big league club finally came. So why is he only pinch hitting while the washed up Jose Reyes and non prospect Phillip Evans are getting the start at third base? When Todd Frazier returns, will Reyes finally be released or will McNeil or Evans be sent back down? What about if we trade Asdrubal Cabrera?
Does it matter? The season is dead and lost. Why would Fred Cheapon throw away about 650 thousand dollars? Cabrera is going to be gone shortly. Let’s see how this purge is going to finish.

Cabby needs to be dealt before he gets hurt and McNeil needs to play regularly. Jose can stay as the 25th guy so long as he does not take one at bat or inning from any player that could be part of 2019 or beyond.
And get this newly acquired arm up into the bullpen now. Please. And I give Vargas 2-3 starts to audition for 2019. Corey Oswalt should be starting every 5th day until he hits an innings limit. Please. Thank you GM1, GM2, GM3, and most of all Mr. Jeff.
Cabby will bring back lots less than Familia,just be salary relief. Unless your dying to play McNeil might as well keep him.
Saw that Ty Kelly is back in Vegas. Is there any reasonable argument for why this makes sense?
Kelly is 30 years old and has no skill that makes you take notice. He’s fine as your 25th guy but you ditch him the second someone better comes along.
GM1, GM2, GM3=If the team is competitive for next year Zack Wheeler who has strong value on the current market does not needed to be traded. You guys better get over market value or if not he’s part of a strong rotation for next year.
What’s everyone’s thoughts on Familia’s return value vs the current trades for pitchers? I’m reading abound Hand, Happ ect and just thinking.

Watching the game last night on delay so I could fast forward through commercials. I found that I really wanted to see the ABs of four players. Rosario, Conforto, Nimmo, and McNeil. These are exciting young players by just about any argument. Granted McNeil maybe doesn’t deserve that label yet. But add Alonso to this mix and it’s a lineup that is worth watching and at least gives me some hope for the future.
McNeil was obviously Jacked out of his skull in last nights game, so I’ll give him a Pass on the base running blunder— he looked like a 10 year old running full steam with his head down.

Signing Jackson now just shows how cheap and stupid the organization is.
You can get out of contracts over time (except Bonilla), but having owners that are cheap and not interested in or are commited to winning are a much bigger problem.
If you don’t want to spend money, fine, then have a model like the Rays, but then you need a great farm system.
The more I think about it, the more trading deGrom makes sense.

Trade Wheeler and at least one other of the four starters! This is 2018 and starters aren’t as valuable as they once were. 6 innings a game, 180 innings in a season if there healthy and that’s a big if! Get 7-8 solid prospects, maybe two of them elite and start over.

One man’s opinion on mid season Mets trades:
– it was the right move to trade Familia but we didn’t get enough given the demand.
– Cabrera should be traded to open up auditions at second base. We should gauge if we have an in-house option for next year with McNeil and TJ or Cechinni if ever healthy.
– I don’t have a problem trading Wheeler if we get a solid return as I don’t trust his health or see him as a long term piece, but not for the sake of trading him.
– I would not move JDG, Thor or Matz unless we get blown away. Those three at least give us a foundation to build around along with a solid OF and an emerging SS.
– I hesitate to trade Mesoraco as the pitchers are doing well with him and we’re going to be auditioning relievers and 5th starters. He wouldn’t net much of a return anyway.
Cabrera is gone. Traded to Phillies. Don’t know who they got. Probably a Mike Schmidt baseball card or box of Legos for Jeff Coupon.
I lke Mesoraco too. A veteran behind the plate? Great idea.
