Despite his bad start, Zack Wheeler is now 11th in the National League with a 3.46 ERA. His 3.31 FIP ranks sixth and helps him to a 3.1 fWAR. That matches up closely to his 2.9 bWAR. For the year he has a 2.9 BB/9.
Not bad for a guy who started in the minors.
I’m curious about the relationship between the front offices of the Mets and the Phillies. The previous deal with Cabrera and the young pitcher leads to a favor between the parties with the Bautista deal?
Sometimes we forget that deals are made between humans who have antagonistic or friendly relations.
Has a deal been made? I just checked MetsBlog and didn’t see anything.
But really – what can you honestly expect to get in return for Bautista? If ever there was a time to do a “favor” it would be here.
I’ll take a cheese steak for Bautista.
OK – Who could we get as a position player to build the franchise around ?
Manny Machado – that’s right, he is 26 years old and at his prime.
Did I just get carried away? I suppose I was presupposing that the Mets need to open a roster spot for David Wright and Philadelphia needs a right handed bat.
They need to open a roster spot for Brandon Nimmo today.
Philly claimed Bautista on revocable waivers – they are the only team that can trade for him right now. The Mets either make a deal, let the Phillies have him for nothing or they pull him back.
If someone wants JBats, let him go get a pennant race. He’s been a good citizen…it would send a bit of a message to players that the Mets intend to treat people decently. As Brian Pointed out, there’s no real “Return” for him.
I don’t know if Bautsita would want to go. He’s getting pretty regular playing time now, if he goes to the Phillies, he would be a bench bat. Does he value playing time or playoff chance? He’s went to the playoffs in ’15 and ’16, so he’s already been there recently.
Good bye Mr Bautista. Hope you enjoy cheesesteaks!
Bautista today,Blevins,Flores tomorrow?
Take change subject, I do say Noah makes for a pretty good #3 starter.
