After having their seven-game win streak snapped their last time out, the Mets got right back in the win column Friday afternoon, as they slugged three homers en route to an 11-1 win over the Cubs in Chicago. The Mets have now won 12 of their last 15 games.

Francisco Lindor led off the game with a double, followed by a Brandon Nimmo walk and a three-run homer by J.D. Martinez and the rout was on. Francisco Alvarez and Nimmo both homered in the second inning, with Nimmo’s being a two-run blast to the opposite field.

The Mets scored a run in the third inning and added four more in the fourth to cap the scoring. Jose Iglesias had three RBIS, while Martinez had a run-scoring single and Starling Marte got an RBI on a fielder’s choice.

Jose Quintana started for the Mets and threw his second straight good game. In something that’s perhaps not a coincidence, Quintana has pitched better recently with the return of Alvarez behind the plate. Alvarez has caught five starts by Quintana and the veteran lefty has allowed 7 ER in 28 IP for a 2.25 ERA with Alvarez behind the dish. With the other three catchers, Quintana has allowed 33 ER in 50.2 IP for a 5.86 ERA.

Quintana’s final line in this game was 6.1 IP, 4 H, 1 UER, 1 BB, 8 Ks.

The Mets return to action with another day game on Saturday, as Tylor Megill takes the mound for a 2:20 p.m. start.

18-2 with Alvarez behind the plate. Small sample?

Corrasco also stifled the Blie Jays to the tune of one run with a win. My point is an experienced pitcher will use a teams overaggressiveness against them, and Quintana was spotting his pitches very well. Too, a crappy home plate ump can put a real wrench into that, but…

The offense was great but so was Quintana. A pitcher that gets alot of run support early can tease the windmills on the Chicago roster and Quintana did just that. As for the18-2 record that Alvarez has, as BoomBoom referenced, I’m pretty sure Mendoza sees that too and isn’t messing up a good thing.

It hard to explain where this offense came from. Is it only from Vientos, Alvarez and Inglesias taking over for guys giving away at-bats and thus lifting morale? It is 33% of the lineup. Is it coincidence that Nimmo has caught fire leaving the three hole? He did take concussion tests and it may have played a role. I hope McNeil has been humbled because I still think he is a good player.

This game could definitely be described as boomboom. They need to continue the boomboom.
