Jose Quintana pitched 6.2 scoreless innings to pick up his 100th career win while lifting the Mets to a 4-0 victory over the Reds Saturday afternoon in Citi Field. It was the ninth-straight win for the Mets, who moved within half a game of the Diamondbacks for the second Wild Card spot, as Houston skunked Arizona, 11-5.
Quintana allowed five hits and struck out six. Over his last three starts, Quintana has allowed just 1 ER in 18 IP. He lowered his ERA to 4.09 and upped his record to 8-9.
In Friday night’s chatter, Name joked that Harrison Bader was going to hit a home run to win it. My reply was that if that happened, I would say, I love Pinky! In the recap. Well, it didn’t happen Friday. Now, here’s what happened in today’s chatter:

6 scoreless for Quintana. Now let’s get him a run and then turn it over to the pen. Maybe Pinky can hit the homer he failed to do yesterday

my prediction was only 6 innings off
Yes, the first run Saturday came on a home run by Bader. The Mets added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single by Pete Alonso and a two-run double by J.D. Martinez.
The bullpen once again came up big, with 2.1 scoreless innings with four strikeouts.
The Mets are now 78-64 and they’ll go for the sweep on Sunday, behind Luis Severino.
Say it with me….1 more in a row. Any more for the streak beyond that certainly welcome bu gravy. Still think Mets are in 1st WC position and less than 7 games back of the Phillies when they meet. Let’s get some 2007 revenge this year shall we.
I’ve had a thread ongoing here that God loves the Mets. I say this in all sincerity as I and the state of Israel live in a constant threat with literally explosions , going boom boom over my head…. if you want to gain spirituality perspective on what’s important in life ,God forbid, then … be under siege. Even though it represents transient pleasure , for me personally it has an element of profound joy…. God bless us all. Ya gotta embrace!
Gut Reaction: The Mets are dominating their inferior competition. The last time they were losing in a game was the first game, in the first inning, in the Chicago White Sox series! Good starting pitching, and excellent bullpen and many crooked number innings has resulted in a nine-game winning streak and vaulted them into the playoffs. Yesterday’s game followed that formula. The bonus was that their competition all lost yesterday. Let us sweep today for a 10-game winning streak.
