The Mets have made many costly free agent mistakes over the years. At the time, signing Jason Bay, Bobby Bonilla and others seemed like a good idea. They had a track record of success, were still in their prime and coming off a good year. Hindsight is 20/20 so it's easy to now point to the [...]

With the 2018 season in the books and no baseball to watch for the next four months, what's on your TV? For me it's the Knicks (see, teams can be worse than the Mets) and a few series I'm hooked on - the Walking Dead, House of Cards, and Ray Donavan. I just realized, the [...]

What separates the Mets from these World Series teams?

This weekend, Mets ownership (with a whisper in the ear from their three not-GMs) will hand the illusion of team reigns over to Wilfred Brimley, Jerry Maguire or Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory. Whichever partially qualified B-list candidate gets the job, let's hope they're watching the World Series to see just how much separates [...]

Two of its best players - center fielder A.J. Pollock and pitcher Patrick Corbin are entering free agency, slugger Paul Goldschmidt is entering his walk year, and [...]

Rumor has it the Arizona Diamondbacks are about to blow it up. A.J. Pollock and Patrick Corbin are free agents and some big names are expected to be made available in trade, including superstar Paul Goldschmidt (more on that later today) and ace Zack Grienke. Should the Mets be in on any of these guys?

What the Mets can learn from these playoff teams

Ten out of 30 teams made the playoffs, and several others (Mariners, Rays, Cardinals) had good seasons and came pretty close. While some of those teams leaned on powerful lineups (Brewers, Yankees, Red Sox) and others on pitching (Astros, Indians), there are a few common threads that run through most if not all of them. [...]

Step one for the Mets off-season to do list is finding a new President of Baseball Operations and/or General Manager to take charge of putting together a competitive team for 2019.  A lot of names have been mentioned. Who intrigues you the most?
