START 7/21 CHATTER
July 21, 2012 – 1:01 pm
I knew Santana’s ankle was a concern immediately after the play. I thought he was coming out for sure, but to my surprised he stayed in there. Unfortunely, since that injury, he was given up 17 runs in 8.2 IP since, ugly
July 21, 2012 – 1:28 pm
Miggy gets the 1st 2 batters, and then gets scared by Kemp and Ethier
July 21, 2012 – 1:29 pm
throw a freaking strike!
July 21, 2012 – 1:30 pm
Thank *** luis cruz
July 21, 2012 – 1:49 pm
clean inning Batista!
July 21, 2012 – 1:49 pm
Jason Bay-5HR, 7RBI’s, pathetic much?
July 21, 2012 – 2:01 pm
Howdy
July 21, 2012 – 2:12 pm
This doesn’t look good
July 21, 2012 – 2:12 pm
No
July 21, 2012 – 2:15 pm
It’s gone situation critical on all fronts.
July 21, 2012 – 2:16 pm
I blame the black uniforms.
July 21, 2012 – 2:19 pm
Its as good as any reason. I can’t believe they are trotting these jerseys out. Batista s u c k s
July 21, 2012 – 2:19 pm
AS much as I hate the black unis, I hate that viewpoint of Alderson’s where we have to wait another week to determine if the club is a buyer. If we were a buyer a week ago we’d be in much better shape.
July 21, 2012 – 2:20 pm
JV needs to stay up.
July 21, 2012 – 2:20 pm
I love the drag bunt.
July 21, 2012 – 2:21 pm
Ruben!
July 21, 2012 – 2:21 pm
Im bummed we dumped cappy. Rt my man
July 21, 2012 – 2:22 pm
Can’t blame Capuano for wanting the multi-year deal and I don’t blame Alderson for not offering it.
July 21, 2012 – 2:23 pm
I would have given 2
July 21, 2012 – 2:23 pm
But they didn’t know what was going to happen with Madoff.
July 21, 2012 – 2:24 pm
C’mon David – great time for a HR
July 21, 2012 – 2:24 pm
The $ on pelf, FF etc
July 21, 2012 – 2:24 pm
I think they decided to do one year with Pelf rather than two with Capuano.
July 21, 2012 – 2:25 pm
Yep, but…
July 21, 2012 – 2:26 pm
It didn’t work out because Pelfrey got hurt. But it was a very defensible position, I think.
July 21, 2012 – 2:28 pm
Josh and Howie recalling DW first game, t
July 21, 2012 – 2:28 pm
gift run!
July 21, 2012 – 2:28 pm
Oday anniversary
July 21, 2012 – 2:29 pm
Excellent
July 21, 2012 – 2:30 pm
wow – Bay turned on that. I don’t care if it was foul – that was a nice swing.
July 21, 2012 – 2:30 pm
Bay with 7 RBI … Sad
July 21, 2012 – 2:31 pm
Sounded good!
July 21, 2012 – 2:31 pm
I’m a big proponent of Batista starting, but i think most people don’t, and since we need good morale badly, i think a switch to Harvey is the right move here
July 21, 2012 – 2:32 pm
I can see good reasons for both calling Harvey up and keeping him in the minors, so I’m okay with whatever the Mets do. What I’m not happy with is sitting on their hands and not picking up a relief pitcher right now.
July 21, 2012 – 2:32 pm
Agreed
July 21, 2012 – 2:33 pm
Bay was right on that one, too. Fouled it straight back.
July 21, 2012 – 2:33 pm
He’s got a “Capuano speed” bat
July 21, 2012 – 2:34 pm
Its a bit of a calling card for Bay
July 21, 2012 – 2:34 pm
i bet our SP is the worst in baseball post All-star break
July 21, 2012 – 2:34 pm
all right Bay
July 21, 2012 – 2:35 pm
Miracle
July 21, 2012 – 2:35 pm
They just showed a graphic last 10 starts, Mets SP have an ERA over 7
July 21, 2012 – 2:35 pm
After the good swings he had in the AB, I’m happy for Bay.
July 21, 2012 – 2:35 pm
And some more 2-out runs
July 21, 2012 – 2:37 pm
Yes the SP is a disaster. Who’s coming in fr Batista?
July 21, 2012 – 2:38 pm
Hefner
July 21, 2012 – 2:39 pm
Oh well
July 21, 2012 – 2:39 pm
Two runs – good inning.
July 21, 2012 – 2:39 pm
Ill take em
July 21, 2012 – 2:42 pm
I wonder if Hefner is auditioning again for a starting role
July 21, 2012 – 2:43 pm
I’d guess every one there must be!
July 21, 2012 – 2:44 pm
You think he has it?
July 21, 2012 – 2:45 pm
the stuff to be a starter?
July 21, 2012 – 2:45 pm
Yeah
July 21, 2012 – 2:45 pm
5th?
July 21, 2012 – 2:45 pm
I see no reason he couldn’t be a 4.50 ERA type of guy.
July 21, 2012 – 2:46 pm
Tough night in minors too
July 21, 2012 – 2:46 pm
They said Wheeler got knocked around — what else happened?
July 21, 2012 – 2:49 pm
McHugh knocked and st lucie nearly no hit
July 21, 2012 – 2:49 pm
Kemp a met killer apparently
July 21, 2012 – 2:49 pm
I don’t think Hairston had to slide on that one.
July 21, 2012 – 2:50 pm
McHugh is fungible. I would have no problems trading him for a relief pitcher
July 21, 2012 – 2:50 pm
They’re saying that on radio too
July 21, 2012 – 2:50 pm
About McHugh?
July 21, 2012 – 2:50 pm
Sliding hairston
July 21, 2012 – 2:51 pm
If Hefner sticks in the majors he might have to get surgery on his ears like Niese did on his nose.
July 21, 2012 – 2:51 pm
Hef turned this into a meak
July 21, 2012 – 2:51 pm
Meal
July 21, 2012 – 2:52 pm
That sound funny” what’s up with his ears?
July 21, 2012 – 2:53 pm
Chatter software very hard on iPad keyboard
July 21, 2012 – 2:55 pm
Go ronny
July 21, 2012 – 2:55 pm
They’re kind of pointy and stick out some. Wouldn’t be awful for a normal person, but it seems like the type of thing if you were making 500K a year you would have done.
July 21, 2012 – 2:55 pm
Ha!
July 21, 2012 – 2:56 pm
Kemp not having the best defensive day
July 21, 2012 – 2:56 pm
I think Niese had structural issues
July 21, 2012 – 2:56 pm
And Abreu being, well, Abreu in the OF
July 21, 2012 – 2:57 pm
Any chance they’ll rush Baxter back? they need him
July 21, 2012 – 2:57 pm
Can he pitch?
July 21, 2012 – 2:58 pm
No. but he can spark the team
July 21, 2012 – 2:58 pm
Who was in RF for dodgers in LA and couldn’t care less about catching that hit a few weeks back?
July 21, 2012 – 2:58 pm
That was VAn Slyke. Very disappointed he’s not around this time.
July 21, 2012 – 2:58 pm
Ok RT! Let’s do. It!
July 21, 2012 – 2:59 pm
When Baxter’s ready I think he replaces Nieuwenhuis
July 21, 2012 – 3:00 pm
Hey y’all
July 21, 2012 – 3:00 pm
Looks like Batista didn’t have it again, what shock
July 21, 2012 – 3:01 pm
*what a shock
July 21, 2012 – 3:02 pm
Arrrgghh, alright, c’mon Torres
July 21, 2012 – 3:03 pm
Thx. Brian. Exactl.
July 21, 2012 – 3:03 pm
::facepalm::
July 21, 2012 – 3:03 pm
Seem like Kirk is headed down.
July 21, 2012 – 3:04 pm
Tough one for Torres – looked like a hit.
July 21, 2012 – 3:04 pm
July 21, 2012 – 3:04 pm
Hey Mike – ready for the comeback?
July 21, 2012 – 3:05 pm
How did they not score that inning?
July 21, 2012 – 3:05 pm
Because Ruben couldn’t make contact
July 21, 2012 – 3:06 pm
Oh the usual ways
July 21, 2012 – 3:06 pm
Infield was playing back, all he had to do was hit the ball someplace besides pitcher.
July 21, 2012 – 3:07 pm
7 hits and only 2 runs
July 21, 2012 – 3:07 pm
And we were lucky to get those. Kemp should have caught that ball hit by Hairston.
July 21, 2012 – 3:08 pm
This is becoming a nightmare
July 21, 2012 – 3:08 pm
now the free swinging uribe walks AGAIN
July 21, 2012 – 3:09 pm
And the schedule doesn’t let up. The west coast trip will be hard going too
July 21, 2012 – 3:11 pm
Who knows, maybe that will pick them up? Are they visiting SD?
July 21, 2012 – 3:11 pm
Hopefully we can grab an early lead and stop playing from behind all of the time.
July 21, 2012 – 3:11 pm
If i remember correctly, the Mets good run in June began with playing SD
July 21, 2012 – 3:12 pm
Yes, and SD has a habit of making us look bad
July 21, 2012 – 3:13 pm
That shouldn’t have happened
July 21, 2012 – 3:13 pm
Walks…
July 21, 2012 – 3:13 pm
Wasn’t that dodger fan telling us yesterday he’s surprised anyone in that lineup other than Kemp/Ethier can’t score runs
July 21, 2012 – 3:13 pm
Not getting the relief pitching we got yesterday.
July 21, 2012 – 3:14 pm
Figure Hef is done?
July 21, 2012 – 3:14 pm
What are the odds that Juan Uribe walks and scores from first on a double to LF? Those two things happening in the same inning have to be about a million to one.
July 21, 2012 – 3:15 pm
And yet……..
July 21, 2012 – 3:15 pm
Man the Gee injury had more impact than we thought
July 21, 2012 – 3:15 pm
He was turning his season around too
July 21, 2012 – 3:16 pm
Let’s get three runs back this inning.
July 21, 2012 – 3:16 pm
6-2 sound familiar?
July 21, 2012 – 3:18 pm
5-pitch inning – that’s pitiful
July 21, 2012 – 3:19 pm
In the heart of the line up no less
July 21, 2012 – 3:21 pm
From espn about Johan: He has allowed six or more earned runs in each of his past three starts, tying a franchise record
July 21, 2012 – 3:23 pm
Did they say who else did that?
July 21, 2012 – 3:24 pm
Pete Falcone? Roger Craig?
July 21, 2012 – 3:24 pm
No
July 21, 2012 – 3:27 pm
Wheeler gave up 8 in 3 2/3…ouch
July 21, 2012 – 3:28 pm
Maybe that will stop the “promote him to the majors” talk
July 21, 2012 – 3:28 pm
Perhaps
July 21, 2012 – 3:29 pm
I’m glad Edgin is in the pen now.
July 21, 2012 – 3:32 pm
I’m hopeful
July 21, 2012 – 3:33 pm
Another solo shot
July 21, 2012 – 3:34 pm
Good for ronny
July 21, 2012 – 3:36 pm
Duda needs to go dunkin donuts on cappy
July 21, 2012 – 3:36 pm
I think we only have 2 QS post break, and during those outings our offense couldn’t score a run
July 21, 2012 – 3:37 pm
I hear ya. The SP is a real issue. And Duda is again
July 21, 2012 – 3:38 pm
Struk out
July 21, 2012 – 3:38 pm
Even if the Mets win, it still doesn’t feel good
July 21, 2012 – 3:39 pm
No.but, we will always have the first half. I’m hopeful for a .500 season
July 21, 2012 – 3:41 pm
Keith just compared Edgin to Randy Myers.
July 21, 2012 – 3:42 pm
I can’t believe this season is turning into the previous 2
July 21, 2012 – 3:43 pm
It just felt different to me
July 21, 2012 – 3:43 pm
I think it’s too soon to say for sure that it will. I’m not convinced this isn’t just a rough patch.
July 21, 2012 – 3:44 pm
The reason we all thought it could continue was because of the SP… boy we were wrong so far
July 21, 2012 – 3:45 pm
Young’s last outing was decent and Niese’s last outing was very good. If Dickey can bounce back SP doesn’t have to be brutal going forward.
July 21, 2012 – 3:47 pm
You know your pitching is struggling when Luis cruz Homers last night and goes 1-3 with a walk today
July 21, 2012 – 3:48 pm
How do you manage CY? Pull him after 2 trips through line up?
July 21, 2012 – 3:49 pm
I don’t think you can pull him if he’s pitching decent. But I do think you have to have someone warmed up and ready to go. It’s not ideal but I think you have to do it. There’s got to be someone in the pen who can get ready quicker than the other guys. Have that go on red alert after 18 batters.
July 21, 2012 – 3:50 pm
Have that *guy*
July 21, 2012 – 3:53 pm
Two Ks for Ruben today
July 21, 2012 – 3:55 pm
Hes off for sure. The thing with young is that it goes down FAST. If he gets a runner on then yank him
July 21, 2012 – 3:56 pm
Wright hasn’t had good ABs, either. Capuano’s stuff must be better than it looks on TV
July 21, 2012 – 4:01 pm
I think there is a correlation between bad pitching and bad hitting. Cappy has that feature
July 21, 2012 – 4:02 pm
The amount of 2 strike hits is inexcusable
July 21, 2012 – 4:02 pm
Meanwhile, another good outing for Ben Sheets today.
July 21, 2012 – 4:03 pm
He win game 1?
July 21, 2012 – 4:03 pm
Nice”
July 21, 2012 – 4:06 pm
Not over yet but he’s in line after 6 shutout innings.
July 21, 2012 – 4:08 pm
I’m not sure what Hairston’s looking for but there were two very hittable pitches he let go by
July 21, 2012 – 4:08 pm
broken bat hit — we’ll take it
July 21, 2012 – 4:09 pm
Pull the ball Murphy
July 21, 2012 – 4:10 pm
Good things happen when you pull that inside pitch!
July 21, 2012 – 4:10 pm
Go Murph!
July 21, 2012 – 4:11 pm
That pitch was more outside than I thought originally but the point still stands.
July 21, 2012 – 4:12 pm
I don’t like this PH here
July 21, 2012 – 4:12 pm
Kirk. C’mon buddy. No K
July 21, 2012 – 4:12 pm
Got the run in – guess we can’t complain
July 21, 2012 – 4:13 pm
Ok
July 21, 2012 – 4:13 pm
Need a baserunner here Thole
July 21, 2012 – 4:14 pm
Think we’ll see Dickey in the 9th?
July 21, 2012 – 4:16 pm
And here he is. Let’s hope this doesn’t blow up on them. Surprised they just didn’t use Parnell. Seems like he could use a low leverage inning.
July 21, 2012 – 4:16 pm
Here he comes
July 21, 2012 – 4:17 pm
Is this low leverage?
July 21, 2012 – 4:17 pm
No it isn’t. But it’s lower pressure than his last few.
July 21, 2012 – 4:18 pm
Fear the knuckler!
July 21, 2012 – 4:19 pm
The Dodger hitters this inning can’t be thrilled about having to face the knuckler
July 21, 2012 – 4:19 pm
RA may need this too
July 21, 2012 – 4:19 pm
Cohen pointed out if the Mets come back he could pick up the victory.
July 21, 2012 – 4:20 pm
Parnell is now scarred and running in fear. He’s not cut out for the heat
July 21, 2012 – 4:21 pm
Yeah, Howie did too. Wish this went 123 tho
July 21, 2012 – 4:21 pm
Really?
July 21, 2012 – 4:21 pm
So much for being good for Dickey…
July 21, 2012 – 4:22 pm
why dickey? he is struggling in his starts? why would you want to mess with him and bring him into relief?
July 21, 2012 – 4:22 pm
So his issues are now cemented in
July 21, 2012 – 4:23 pm
i think they need to bring in a pitching-oriented manager
July 21, 2012 – 4:24 pm
Hopefully this is the last time we ever see Dickey in relief during the regular season.
July 21, 2012 – 4:25 pm
Yea. You don’t do it if he’s hot because you don’t want to mess him up.
July 21, 2012 – 4:25 pm
And you shouldn’t do it when he’s struggling because well, he’s struggling
July 21, 2012 – 4:27 pm
Another comeback that falls short, haven’t seen that before
July 21, 2012 – 4:27 pm
I was hoping that Wright would get a shot here in the 9th
July 21, 2012 – 4:29 pm
There ya go, need 1 more baserunner to make some noise
July 21, 2012 – 4:30 pm
Yep good AB
July 21, 2012 – 4:31 pm
Black jerseys explained. Edgardo Alfonso bobble head day
July 21, 2012 – 4:33 pm
Hairston will probably be swinging for the fences, lets hope Jansen hangs one
July 21, 2012 – 4:33 pm
Ok, 2 on….Scotty…hit it
July 21, 2012 – 4:33 pm
He’s certainly due for a big hit
July 21, 2012 – 4:33 pm
If i were jansen, i’d pitch him away and off the plate cause he’ll probably chase
July 21, 2012 – 4:34 pm
I’d be happy for a strong ab rather than just hacking
July 21, 2012 – 4:35 pm
Agreed name… He needs to be cautious
July 21, 2012 – 4:36 pm
Ewell see y’all tomorrow
July 21, 2012 – 4:36 pm
Offense continues to fight while the pitching crumbles away
July 21, 2012 – 4:37 pm
Thought Hairston had a pitch to hit with the one he missed to make it two strikes.
July 21, 2012 – 4:37 pm
Righty tomorrow, have a better chance
