“The Mets third baseman, who is rehabbing from spinal stenosis and has not played since April 14, was scheduled Monday to have his weekly checkup with Dr. Robert Watkins in Los Angeles, and according to general manager Sandy Alderson there has been “no change” in Wright’s status. A day earlier, manager Terry Collins indicated Wright was ‘on the upswing’ and ‘doing some things that are related to baseball activities.‘”

Sounds like the goalpost is getting pushed further and further back.

It saddens me that after all these years of playing for some deliberately made bad teams that David can’t join in the party.
Third base is in total flux. The Mets best hitter at AAA , Castellanos, is heading to Japan. At 28 yoa he may only be a AAAA player but it is a shame that with the need for offense he wasn’t given an opportunity. Back through the revolving door comes Zach Lutz from Korea via Japan. He is another career minor leaguer blocked by Wright who had put up good AAA numbers but he was always seemed to be injured when major league opportunity arose. The strong rumour is that the Mets will be trading for Aramis Ramirez as Wrights second half replacement which leads to Murphy back at second and Flores at SS. That makes me uncomfortable.
I really wish David could join the party instead.
Metsense, I agree with you. Short of getting the Captain back I’d much rather leave Murph at 3rd and Flores at second and bring in a versatile Zobrist type, shortstop or outfielder – preferably two of them.
