The Mets outhit the Braves 12-7 but three of the Braves’ hits went for homers, resulting in a 6-3 loss for the Mets Thursday afternoon at Citi Field.

Taijuan Walker started and took the loss. He had no trouble in the first three innings but gave up back-to-back homers in the fourth and two more runs in the fifth. Early in the year Walker wasn’t giving up any homers at all. But in his last 50.1 IP, he’s allowed 10 homers.

Pete Alonso homered for the Mets, a titanic blast that had Gary Cohen bringing up Tommie Agee’s shot in 1970. It looked like Alonso was going to get another shot to bat in the ninth, but two rockets were caught for outs and Alonso was left in the on-deck circle.

Next up for the Mets is the Reds and the Mets debut for Carlos Carrasco.ac
