It feels like we haven’t talked enough about the hot streak Eduardo Escobar has been on here recently.
In his last 21 games, Escobar is slashing .365/.422/.689 in 83 PA. He has 11 XBH in this span, including 6 HR. Escobar also has 8 BB in this streak, which is nice for a guy who typically doesn’t walk a whole lot.
This surge has brought his season-long OPS+ to 104, meaning when the Mets face a RHP, eight of the nine spots in the lineup have above-average production. And even the catchers haven’t been dead weight here in September.
Earlier this month, when the Mets were doing their feast-or-famine routine offensively, people were saying that the club was missing Starling Marte. But now that they’ve scored 37 runs in their last six games, you don’t hear that so much anymore. It’s not that the club won’t welcome Marte back with open arms. It’s just that when Escobar steps up to join Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor as productive members of the team, he gives it a power dimension that they really need.

Remember, today’s game is a 2:10 start.
Hey,where’s Tex haven’t heard from him.
or Wobbit for that matter. Been forever.
I know this one. Wobbit said something that was wrong in one of the Game Chatters. I told him it was wrong and so did Metsense. He didn’t care for that and stopped commenting. He still reads the site but doesn’t comment. It wouldn’t surprise me if he just started commenting again out of the blue one day.
Yeah – where is that rascally Wobbit?
Good point about Escobar, kudos to him for pulling it together.
Anything besides a sweep in Oakland will be disappointing. The Mets have their big starters set up and a rested pen. Plenty of time to settle in a get some rest before the series begins. The Braves have been phenomenal and the Mets can’t control that until a week from now, so they need to TCB as Elvis would say.
